Hoster Stopped Working

Last week at while I was working, Hoster stopped and shut down 3 times. Each time it was when the song was over. It would shut down, I would start it back up and it would work fine for several more songs and then it would do it again. Has anyone else had this problem?

I am using an HP Pavillion dv6700 with 3 gigs of ram, an AMD Turion 64 X2 processor. Windows 7 32 bit upgrade from Vista. My songs are on an external hard drive WD 250 gig. I am running Hoster 4.11

1. Did You have Hoster 4.11 running correctly before you upgraded to Windows 7 ?
2. Have you followed all the recommended settings and all the Windows updates.?
3.Do you have all the features enabled such as background audio, Visualization, etc.
4. Are you doing something in particular prior to it crashing ?
5. Are there any other programs running in the background ?

Roy.

Hoster Stopped Working

1. Hoster 4.11 was working corectly before the upgrade.
2. I check the settings yesterday after I had posted this. The visual effects had reverted back to original setting. I changed it and will see if this fixes the problem.
3. The only thing I was doing when it happened was letting the song play while the singer was singing, when the song finished it would shut down.
4. All the settings are right now.
5. No other programs were running.

Thanks for you help.

If you are still having problems the only thing I can think of as I don't have Windows 7 myself, you must do all the Windows Custom updates not just the recommended ones but not any Microsoft hardware updates, for these go to the manufacturers web sites.

Since installing 7 have you installed any other programs that weren't on the computer under vista ? If so try uninstalling them and see if Hoster runs better.

Roy.

Are you using the background audio? If so turn it off and do your next show and see if that will help.
Also when you upgraded to Windows 7 many of the settings get set back to default, so go to this link and check to make sure all the steps are correct and not reset back to default.

Dale,
The 'Strongly Suggested Changes' steps apply to Vista. It doesn't work for Win7. Is there a checklist for Win7 or am I'm missing something?

The differences for Windows 7 have been added to that page. Look again.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the steps (i.e: TURN OFF USER ACCESS CONTROL (UAC)) apply to Vista but do not apply to Win 7 unless I'm missing something.

Not having Windows 7 myself it is hard to tell anyone what to do but I found this page where there is some info on UAC for windows 7. http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windows7/windows7_uac.htm

UAC turned off does apply to Windows 7. As Roy has pointed out there are additional settings but MTU is still recommending to turn it completely off.

I didn't mean UAC specifically, I was using it as an example of how the step by step processes layed out for Vista don't work for Win 7. If you use Win 7 and you follow the steps, at some point the windows don't match the verbage stated on the instructions. Does that make sense?

Question Hoster stops working

I have the same problem. Especially when i start Hoster for the first time it would stop working for a couple of times. After which it would work very well but would crash again in an hour or so. I've noticed that Hoster would crash about 3 or 4 times for each 4hr show apart from crashing 3 times when i first open hoster. I did all recommendations as stated. I'm using Windows 7 with 4 gigs ram and no other programs running in the background. In Vista Hoster worked flawlessly after all the glitches were worked out.

They were supposed to correct it to add and differences in how to do steps for Windows 7. I guess it didn't get done yet. So as far as figuring out the difference for now you may have to resort to the Help section in Windows 7 or the internet.

Then there must be something running in the background that is causing this. This does not mean a program you are running. It will not show in Task Manager as an application but will be in the process list.
The following is a good link to help tweak your system for optimum performance:

Unhappy Re: Hoster Stopped Working

Ok guys, I have checked all the settings they are right, no other programs are running. It stopped once last week while I was doing a show and did it three times last night. Thank God it doesn't do it in the middle of a song. It is always when the song is through. Don't know what else to do....
