HP Pavilion Entertainment PC

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6400 2 GHz
4 GB Ram
64 bit operating system
Hoster 5.01

direct x is at version 11
wmp is at version 12.xxxx

Re: audio drop outs

Can you give us specific details what you are doing when you hear them?

What type file are you playing?

Re: audio drop outs

more facts - ok , i loaded mp3 and kma files....when i start multi tasking it seems the cut outs occur..

does anyone have an good ideas what would be causing that....

i have 4 GB ram, fast processor, wmp seems to be up to par....there must be something else that is memory related i would guess

Laptop or desktop computer? Operating system?
Are you running anything else in the background?
What are you multi-tasking with it when this happens?

Re: audio drop outs

When you say multi tasking do you mean you have other programs running or are you referring to playing mp3 through the Hoster Background Audio player (BA) or from the normal playlist ?

Also are these mp3 files on an external disc ?

I ask this second question because if I play my background mp3 files from an external drive I always seem to get a hic up in the music track about 2-5 seconds in from the start of the playing song, Always have ever since this feature was introduced, the rest of the song plays OK. I have mentioned this before but I found that if I load my BA tracks to my C/ drive the problem goes away.
I have tried this with various external hard hard drives and they all exhibit the same problem.
As I have never herd anyone else mention this I have just kept to loading my BA tracks to my C/ drive.

Re: audio drop outs

HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop
Win 7
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6400 2 GHz
4 GB Ram
64 bit operating system
Hoster 5.01

when i say multi tasking , i mean another application open the same time i am using Hoster.

i am not using an externall HDD , as my primary has 500 GB and is large enough. I have wondered about the HDD as well. diagnostics indicate it's healthy and has 70 GB available for storage space.

thanks guys.

First thing that jumps out at me is only 70 of 500GB free space. This will limit the amount of working space for Windows. The recommended free space is a minimum of 25% and the closer you can get to 50% the better off you are.
Second is what other program are you running with Hoster?
ALso, being a Laptop means you are using shared memory for your video card which is taking part of the 4GB of system memory to be used for video operation. This is also cutting down on function of the operating system.
Defragment your hard drive. Then try running Hoster by itself, without the other program and see if you are getting the dropouts.
