Just A Couple Routine Questions

Yes, i have searched on this forum first for answers, and all questions relate to Windows Vista Home Premium operating system.

What is the recommended import speed of a CDG disc into hoster? I know mtu suggest leaving the speed blank, and letting it import that way, what import speed has worked best for you?

Is there any maintenance that should be done to an "External Hardrive"? with only kma files on it, and how often.

What should not be on my computer as a general rule if i am running just hoster?

Also:

Should mtu add any new categories to this forum, and what would you suggest they be? such as, a tutorial learning section, a community chat section, an equipment discussion section in relation to mtu products, what works, what doesn't, a gig Q&A section? Your imput is appreciated. I know there are karaoke forums out there, but they do not address certain issues, and questions just related to mtu products and their operation. So i am speaking only in relation to mtu products only. Thanks George

With the older CD drives you needed to slow the drives down for better quality. With the newer drive (2000 and beyond) this has not been necessary and in fact they read at MAX speed better than any other setting. Additionally Hoster's import utility has error correction that is far superior over anyone elses. It will attempt to read a sector up to 20 times to get the best quality read of it. (This is why some imports are slower than others depending on the condition of the disc.)

I always recommend doing a defrag of the drive especially after you have imported a lot of files. This decreases the read time because the sectors are arranged consecutively on the disc.

That is a tough one to answer. Every computer is different and it would be hard to pinpoint. Some Anti-virus programs can interfere, but some don't. Roxio and Nero can interfere, but these can be fixed to keep that from happening. I would say any program that opens on start-up would not be a good idea. If they can be set to not start automatically then no problem.

These are question that should be posted in Singers & Hosts Wisdom forum since it pertains to the forums and MTU products as a whole.
