Augh! Help! Reinstall of songs (Hoster version 3.321)
I'm lost. I posted earlier in the week about my laptop dying. I bought a new computer, downloaded and reinstalled Hoster (version 3.321)
I keep all of my songs on an external drive. They are both KMA files and MP3G files. MadJim replied on how to rebuild my database and that worked. However when I search, a TON of songs are missing. I called support several times and get voicemail. Can someone please help? ![]() |

Are all of your files in the same folder on the external drive? You may have already checked this, but sometimes it is the simple things that trip us up.

Hey Dave,
Are all of your KMA files in one folder? If not you have to select each folder that contains KMA files when you rebuild the dayabase. (Thanks hwheeler43 for helping out, you snuck in on me. ![]() ![]() ![]() Jim ![]()

Yep, I selected all of the folders that have karaoke songs in them. I have both KMA and MP3g files. It built it - 15, 000 plus songs. It made a .txt file showing this:
DUPLICATE BOOKIDS DETECTED DURING DB BUILD ON: Thu Mar 05 15:33:33 2009 C:\MTU\Hoster\BuildSongDBLog.txt BOOKID SONG NAME ARTIST NAME PATH 26201 It's Only Rock N' Roll Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-1.kma 26202 As Tears Go By Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-2.kma 26203 The Harlem Shuffle Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-3.kma 26204 Time Is On My Side Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-4.kma 26205 Satisfaction Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-5.kma 26206 Get Off Of My Cloud Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-6.kma 26207 Paint It Black Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-7.kma 26208 Mother's Little Helper Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-8.kma 26209 Jumping Jack Flash Rolling Stones .....it goes on and on and on like this. Could this be the problem? |

Do you not have to import your mp3g files into hoster for them to be converted into Kma files before the data base will pick them up? I think all the files must named kma. You can play mp3g using add track.

Dave,
When you rebuilt the database, Did you hit "Add" or "Rebuild"? With Hoster closed go to C:\MTU\Hoster and delete the songs.mdb and the songs_backup.mdb then Rebuild (not Add) your database. This should fix the Dupilcate Book Id issue. Jim ![]()

![]() And I get the duplicate file .txt file : DUPLICATE BOOKIDS DETECTED DURING DB BUILD ON: Thu Mar 05 17:39:56 2009 C:\MTU\Hoster\BuildSongDBLog.txt BOOKID SONG NAME ARTIST NAME PATH 26201 It's Only Rock N' Roll Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-1.kma 26202 As Tears Go By Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-2.kma 26203 The Harlem Shuffle Rolling Stones J:\Karaoke Tracks\Backstage\BS9217-3.kma .....and so on and so on.... |

Now you need to run the Add and see if it will pick up the duplicate BookIDs and reassign them to another BookID for each disk.

Are they your mp3g files that are missing?

How do I run the ADD ?
And yes, it appears my MP3G one's are the ones that are missing. |

I've never had a problem importing MP3G files before.

Your posts left the impression that you were trying to add mp3g's directly to your database
Once theyv'e been imported the original mp3g's can go away. Put 'em away somewhere for safekeeping.

I'm confused, For a song to be in the song book it must be a KMA file, and hoster will play that file, it will also play a mp3g file using the add track button although i'm not sure because i have not used your version of hoster. If your saying you have imported all your mp3g files into hoster you must have a folder or location missing somewhere. Try find a song you know you have in mp3g format only and see if you can reconise the disc number or track name in any of your song location folders on your hard drive(s)

On the main Hoster menu, if I click on MP3G and go to a folder where I know MP3G's are and double click on it, it brings it over to Hoster and plays fine. I just don't understand why they aren't showing up in my searches.

Because they are not imported into hoster. Try this go to import and import a single mp3g track from the location you play them from, just do one for now, import it then you will see it will then show up when you search you data base.

So I should go to all of my folders that have MP3G's in them and re-import them?

Take a diskid from one of those missing songs and do a Computer search (through Explorer) for it. Besure to tell your computer to look in hidden folders as well. If the track# is less than 10 besure to NOT include a leading zero IE CB61342-2.
