Understanding zip file problems?
![]() So, what is best - Use MicroStudio to convert the zip files to bin or kma & re-import into Hoster, -OR- If I upgrade to 3.321 (from 3.317), will Hoster be able to read all the converted zip files that it is having trouble reading now? I didn't have this problem with 3.316 either, but Hoster was on my old XP. I have 3.317 installed on my new Vista laptop. |

Skybird,
Version 3.318 or 3.319 fixed the Zip file format problems but then caused a panic because of other problems mainly with Vista. Version 3.321 has those fixes for Zips in it to so yes that should fix your problem. The only thing I can think of that may not be in there (can't remember) might be if there is an additional file in the zip. At one point they talked about rejecting them but later went to ignoring that file. Some companies use a txt file added to allow different players to use them.

I'm still confused about zip files.
If Hoster converts them to kma when importing them, does that mean that Hoster was unable to properly convert these files? And, if so, then why could they be played in 3.316? and not in 3.317? ...just trying to understand ![]() |

Hoster does not actually convert them the same way it does CDGs. MP3s are already compressed so all Hoster does is wrap a header around the exising file. Some zip files were able to play in 3.317, but the problem is there is no standard for MP3 and multiple compression levels for ziping files. This makes for a lot of combination possibilities and it was a lot of work for MTU to get most of them to work in Hoster and Microstudio.

Thanks for the explanation! I'll go ahead and upgrade to 3.321 and hope that solves the problem.
