Unhappy There is no direct copy method

Since the Laser players don't have any "digital out" there is no way to do a direct copy.

Search for the word "laser" in this Forum and you will find some other discussions, one of which I recall did involve some suggestions.

I can add that you can record the music as a .wav file into a PC with an audio card, then open it in our Karaoke Home Producer and add the lyrics back into it yourself. You can read some testimonials on this at: http://www.mtu.com/testimonials/kara...e-producer.htm.

Look up "VCD Recorder" on the web

There is a machine that claims to be able to record the analog out from a video source (e.g. laserdisc) and convert it to MPEG-1 video in real-time (meaning you have to actually watch every video of every song)

I won't mention the name in respect to MTU, but happened across the info when a friend asked me about the same topic.

Hope that helps!

If you have something like a dazzle Video editor unit and software you can hook your lazer player to your computer and copy from there. Most CD writers will burn VCD format dsics. My HP8100 does. to play these files on your Karaoke system, assuming you are still using a player and haven't converted to the computer, you need a DVD/VCD/CDG player or a VCD/CDG player- Pioneer makes a 555 unit that plays DVD/VCD/CDG/CD formats. RSQ and CAVS now make a DVD that will play the new MEdia CLoq discs as well as DVD/VCD/CDG/CD/MP3 formats.
JVC, RSQ, and VOco pro make VCD/CDG/CD units. out of al the units VOCOPRO is the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
one downfall of these players is that the load time can tke forever as the computer brain inside these players have to figure out wht format they are playing before allowing you any access to selecting what track ou are using.

Yes, something like the DAZZLE video recorder/editor is your best bet.

You still have to watch the entire video for each song, but it will allow you to create a VCD of the LaserDisc, and I believe most Karaoke players handle vcds now.. I know all of ours do, we use the panasonic 3 disc players.

It should say right on the player if it supports vcd. The cool thing about that:

No more lugging around the big LaserDiscs.. and you will (most likely) have songs with video behind the lyrics.

On a similar note.. you could encode a song with KHPro using the transparent background color, (That option is still there right?) and play that back on your Karaoke player that allows inserting video to the background. You could make your own 'video karaoke' by playing this all into the dazzle, then making a vcd of that.. OR also very cool, run a cam-corder at your karaoke show, and put the live video of the person singing behind the lyrics of the song they're singing!
