Question Moving KMA files

I am working with an XP laptop. I have 1700+ kma files on my laptop ( C drive) and 67,000+ kma files on my external ( G ) drive. All of these songs were imported thru MTU , on the same computer (The first 1700 were before i had an external hard drive). After reading everything i could in forum, i still need help in the correct way of getting the 1700 kma files (on C drive) added to my external (G) drive.
This is what i've done so far : located and copied KMA files in (C) drive onto a empty external hard drive, checked to verify the copy was successful. Everything is good so far.The reason i used an empty external hard drive , is because i have four more external hard drives with 67,000+ KMA files that i want to add the 1700+ songs to,as my back ups.

This is what I think i need to do next.
(1) copy the 1700 KMA's to the external HD that has the 67,000 KMA files
(2) Run Hoster and open tools.

(3) Click on build song data base.

(4) Delete C drive.

(5) select G:/songs.

(6) click build song data base and let er run.

If this is the correct way of doing this please let me know, if i am incorrect' please correct me.
Thanks
Paul

Assumingyou are putting those songs in a "songs" folder on G drive then yes this is exactly right

Hey, Thank Y'all very much. As you have probably figured out my now,i am not a computer whiz, and i just want to make sure that i'm doing it the right way. I have learned a lot from my friends on MTU forum.

I only have one other question about moving these songs and that is , my playlist files. will i have to rebuild them, or will hoster be able find the the songs that were originally in (C) drive, when they were put into a playlist file?

Nope. If you use an old playlist and try to play one of the songs that were previously on the C: drive it will error out and move on to the next song. At present there is no way around this. They will have to be re-added to the playlist.

Paul,
If you want to free up the space on the C: Drive now that you have copied them to the external, then delete them from there. That will give you more operating space on C: drive which should never be more than 75% full with 50% being even better.
