Question lost KMA files

I recently purchased Hooster 3.319. After putting in 225 CDs, they just dissappeared???? I had done this over a period of 3 days so the program had been opened and closed several times. I am using a laptop with an external 750 GB HD. I had 700cds to go before this happened, are they recoverable or do I have to start over. Next how do I prevent this from happening again. I used the KMA tab. Thank You, Mary Sheetz

What operating system are you using?
Was this a new install or an upgrade?
Are you importing to the default folder on the C: drive or to the external drive?
Have you tried a search for the files? (look for *.kma)
If you are using the external to store the files did the drive letter change?

Hey Maryskaraoke....

I went through grief with this yesterday - I lost over 10,000 .kma files... I was able to recover them through a program called "Paretologic" - I had searched my hard drive (search - files and folders - .kma) and only had 3,000 plus showing. I wish someone would assure me that this won't happen again. As soon as recovery was complete, I backed up to a 500GB "book." However, on working with it this morning, on a search for a song, it will appear in the window but if you click on it, it is NOT there...so I'm in the process of 'reloading' CDGs. It seems to have been real hit and miss, what disappeared. Thankfully 99% of the songs are there, but now am going through each disc in succession, looking for ones that have to be reloaded. (I thought it was my mirrored hard drives malfunctioning but it seems that others are having the same problem...)

Had the recovery with Paretolog not worked, I was ready to take the whole thing to my "geek squad' kid at Best Buy and ask for his assistance.

Karen

Read this Post about Hoster 3.320, and then download and install it.

The problem is in 3.318 and 3.319, now fixed in 3.320.

We too thought we had a virus when we unknowingly lost files not related to Hoster at all. We are confident we found the code that along with Windows' random operations did the NTSF index damage. We are confident we have fixed the problem, but only you folks seeing the problem repeatedly can tell us it is fixed.

Thank you for your patience. We truly are sorry this happened, and believe we have solved it.

reply to missing songs

I am using Windows XP pro. this was a new install. I however downloaded the upgrade. I am saving to a 750 external HD.. Maxtor one touch 3. Yes it saves to the same folder and no the drive letter did not change, but I did down load 3 karaoke songs and transferred them to my folder I labeled karaoke not "songs" and transferred them to my folder. Thats when I realized my files had vanished. this is the second attempt Ive made to place them on this External HD. and both times they leave. I really am unhappy that ive lost a week of work. I did a search and returned the last 5 discs I put in.

Paratologic

I looked for the program you recommended but it is a spyware removal software. It didnt state that it recovered files. Or am I overlooking something?

Please, do NOT use paratologic! DO NOT do anything that will write to your hard drive until you try to recover the lost files.

Paratologic failed to retrieve all of Karen's files, and is an "over the Internet" solution that has a fatal flaw. MTU does NOT recommend this as a solution.

There are 2 other programs recommended for recovering lost files. I'll have MTUSUPPORT list them here as I am about to be late for a critical meeting.

lost files

I purchased "recover my files", it found 3800 of them I am still saving them so I will let you know the outcome. It cost me an additional 69.00 however i hopefully will not have to rescan the cd's. I still had 650 disc to go prior to the songs leaving.
