![]() Hi All, Just bought Hoster and think it's great. But I have not used it for a show yet as I am still trying to get to grips with the workings of it.
I set up the system last night and during the playing of the songs on the second monitor I lost the curser which ended up on the monitor and not my laptop. The result was the second screen showed the wallpaper and curser but I was unable to see the curser on my laptop to serch for songs etc. I'm sure it's something simple other then me being simple. Please help if you can!! Big Ben |

Ben,
1. turn off your computer 2. disconnect your TV monitor 3. restart your computer. This should put your desktop back on your computer monitor. 4. turn off your computer 5. connect your TV 6. restart your computer This is an easy way to reset your video settings. I Hope This Helps! Jim ![]()

If you are using a wireless mouse this may happen from time to time. (I know it does for me.) All you have to do is slide the mouse back to the left until it shows up on the laptop.
Remember that you are running your display in Extended mode. This means both monitors are one continuous desktop screen. The mouse has free movement over the entire desktop.

When the message says the PC has detected the video monitor don't say to clone it. That gives you a second PC screen with everything including the cursor. It's common to have your background on it but not the icons. You can turn it off and revert to the proper screen. Can't remember how, maybe someone else does. I worked my way through it.

Thanks for all your help
Hi All
Did my first show with the laptop and kept my player and cdg's handy just in case. I am pleased to say all went well and it was so much easier especially when someone changes their song once they are called up!! The only thing would be volume! Do I need a better sound card in my laptop as I have a new Peavey 800f mixing desk and with the cd player would knock your socks off but with the laptop it was cliping quite a bit. Is that a posibility a better sound card? ![]() Thanks for all your posts they were very helpfull.. |

Many of the laptop users use an external USB sound card, but I don't know which model they use. Someone else will have to post that as I use desktop computers.

If the line levels and volume are turned up on your soundcard you should have plenty of headroom. I don't use my laptop for shows but I do use an external USB soundcard on my desktops mostly just because in my opinion the onboard sound on motherboards tend to not be the best quality. A subjective opinion to be sure. It's also necessary if you are trying to run something in the background like Winamp. Sam

![]() Thanks folks
it was the mixer amp that was clipping and I was worried it was cranked up too high to allow for the low level of sound coming out of the laptop. I will check out an external sound card as thats sounds like the answer. BIg Ben |

Just a thought
Make sure your computer volume level is up before you go to extremes
it happened to me by accident one night . Dick

Toshiba
Hi all I'm using a Toshiba laptop and it does not have very good volume from the laptop speakers so I suppose it figures that coming through the mixer it won't have the same volume as my JVC player.
I will test one of those sound cards and let you know when I do. Thanks for your help.. ![]() BigBen |
