error in status field

I have been using Hoster for over 2 years now. Today I got a problem that I never had before.

When adding new songs (importing zipped hard drive files). On 1 of my laptops(XP) all the files installed great. On my other 2 laptops (Vista) about half the files imported Okay the remainder put an error in the status field. The same exact files imported Okay or had error statuses on both systems. Now on these 2 laptops I get an error in the status field no matter what now. I can no longer add any zipped files. I don't know how to fix this problem any suggestions.

This not the first time i've imported songs on the Vista machines. One I've had for several months and imported zipped files successfully several times. The other a couple times, it seems like something has been corrupted.

thanks, Stu

What version of Hoster?
When you say you have imported zip files without problems before is this with the same version or have you upgraded?

Being that far back it may be that those that won't import may be zipped with maximum compression. It wasn't until recent versions that Hoster could work with those.
Try unzipping them and rezip at a lower compression.

okay thanks

I was wrong about the version number, The one that worked fine is 3.312, the other 2 I know are newer versions and the other 2 are the same versions, but i'm not sure what versions they are.

One of the laptops I don't have right now but will later today. The laptop i'm on now when I bring up ABOUT HOSTER under the help menu the screen is not completely filled in and all i can see is Hoster 3.3 the rest is cut off. Is there another way to view the version number? Is there a newer version that has a problem with zipped files that there is a fix for?

I don't think the problem is compression, because if I try to add a file that i've added successfully before I still get an error. I cannot add any more zipped files I've tried several different files I don't understand what the problem is (It's like it's stuck).

I will try unzipping and rezipping (I don' know about compression) and respond on this thread when I'm done, I don't think it will help. I'll do this later today or maybe tomorrow. I'm also willing to pay for an upgrade to a better version than I have if I can be assured it will take care of this wierd problem

Thanks, Stu

Click Tools/About Hoster. If it's 3.317 it may be a problem that version had with zip files. You may have to unzip 'em to import until it gets fixed.
