Karaoke Pro is for companies who want to commercially make Karaoke songs. It allows adjusting each lyric word to perfect synchronization to the music. Karaoke Home Producer is for home and private use, with the synchronization being done by tapping the Spacebar key at the start of each word.

The items below show the differences between Karaoke Home Producer 2.009 (KHP) and Karaoke Pro (KPro). This thread was originally created for Karaoke Home Producer 1.115, but has been upgraded to 2.009 on September 11, 2001. KHP and KPro both allow the following:

Select the font point size
Select Bold, Italic or Shadow (with shadow color selection)
Select any single-byte TrueType font
Split words into syllables or even characters to adjust the sweep velocity inside the word.
Select 2-6 lines to appear per page, KPro supports up to 8.
Continuously replace the lines as they are swept.
Select any of the 4,096 CDG colors for the lyric text, sweep and shadow colors, and background and border colors.

KHP creates solo songs, KPro creates solo and duet songs.

KHP can create a Title page, Lyrics area and a Credits page, all with the same font, point size and colors. KPro allows separate palette control of the font, point size and colors on each of the three sections.

KHP does not allow editing the lyrics after synchronizing to the music. You can instantly restore the lyrics for placing again. KPro allows editing the lyrics after synchronizing to adjust any word at any time, in any order.

KHP continuously replaces the lines as they are swept. KPro allows replacing the same way, or replacing a page after the last word is swept, and adjusting how long each page displays before the next starts drawing.

KHP does not allow adding color Graphic images. KPro does allows adding graphics in the Title and Credit page (with overlapping text), and in the Lyrics area where there are musical interludes with no lyrics sweeping (singer is silent).

KHP has no audio processing. The .wav file must come from some other source. KPro is build on the world-class Microeditor Digital Audio Workstation. This allows recording, editing, adding effects and mixing multiple track audio for commercial music production.
This should clear up the differences between these two products.

Arrow KHP v's Pro

I think for the $150 paid for KHP we could have got a lot better prog with a few more options.
I understand you have to keep these companies who paid $10,000 for Pro happy.
One mistake at the end of a 5 min song and you have to do the whole thing again. The lyric placement bit is very basic and hit and miss.
I am not looking for title screens or other colours etc, but mabye something to make lyric placement a bit easier.

With Karaoke Pro, that has the ability to go back and adjust each word into perfect sync, a fast producer who knows the song will have a song synchronized in 20 minutes, and 30 to 40 is not unusual. Without question, having the ability to edit does not shorten your production time. Karaoke Pro is based on our $1,595 Microeditor audio workstation platform that allows the adjustment of the lyric word flags. This would likely be a very expensive development cost feature to add into Karaoke Home Producer.

Ignoring the above, what would you suggest we do to make placment easier for you?

Talking KHP

I was thinking along the lines of a time line where you could run back and forward redoing parts of the song. But then after thinking about that its probably then getting to near to Pro. I have made half decent cdg's in my first couple of weeks and I am sure in time I shall improve my lyrics timing, sweeps and pauses.
Mabye just getting greedy. I am more than happuy at being able to make cdg's that I can play on my JVC cdg player.

Just tell me to shut up next time.

I'm not too concerned about infringing on Karaoke Pro producers by allowing you to edit the sync placement. I am strickly looking at it from the economic stand-point. We are the only company in the world to now offer the ability to create a CDG song in the true CDG format. We have an incredibly large investment to have done this, and polish it in ways you - our clients - hopefully will never know. A good product hides all the complexities from its users.

We create 3 databases inside KHProducer once you have placed the lyrics: 1) When the lines are drawn, 2) when the words are swept, 3) when a new line overwrites (replaces) a displayed one. It would be a whole new ballgame to allow editing these databases, but there probably are some ways we could make this not-too-painful without spending a new fortune. Right now, I'm spending most of my time on getting this product to market.

Karaoke Home Producer

To All. I think that Karaoke Home Producer is the greatest for the price. I was able to make Perfect CDGs on my second attempt. I can now complete a song with about 10 minutes of work. I have even put in song titles and even ending credits. One thing to remember is that you will need to know how the song goes before producing the CDG. If you don't know how the song goes you won't place the words correctly even with unlimited editing. You must realize and train yourself to tap to words and not syllables, this is the hardest part. When you first tap your space bar for a word it starts the timing for shading of that word which will complete upon the tap of the space bar for the start of the next word or when the Ctrl key is pressed. Remember you can put in blank lines. This works great for a title page till the lyrics start.
Different Fonts I'm not worried about. Bold, Italics and underline,I don't even care about that but I do agree that it would be nice to have the basic colors for use on duets, maybe even for a different background, and yes these same colors would stay constant throughout the song. Yellow over white for shading doesen't always show up to clear on some tvs. I am having a blast with mine making CDGs that aren't even on the market. Thank you MTU !!!
