Importing MP3+G from DISC

Ok, I have read the manual and gone through the forums and although it seems all you have to do is copy the MP3+G's to the hard drive and then import them into Hoster, it seems hoster can't actually read the Disc that needs to be copied. Soooo, that being said, how the heck do I copy the discs to the hard drive with the song and artist info? The FreeDB won't work and I really do not have the time to manually enter several thousand song titles and artist info.

Because MP3+G (zipped) files are already compressed Hoster doesn't actually import them and change them to kma files. It adds them to the song database but does not move them. Those files need to have the title and artist in order for Hoster to add them to the database. So if the files don't have that information in the filename Hoster can't process them unless you enter each manually.

Freedb does not have information on all karaoke discs and Hoster's database doesn't have them all either. Sometimes we just have to manually enter the info.

You could also put them on the hard drive and use cdg rename which relies on KJPRO songbook creator to rename all the files it is very fast and most time effective. There are some errors but not many.

I don't know how ddouglas does it, but when I import my mp3+g files from my hard drive it puts them into my hoster directory as a kma file. They do have artist and title information. I can then move the kma files from my test sytem to my laptop and they work great.

What do you mean "read the Disc that needs to be copied"? It seems to me that if you have copied MP3G songs to the hard drive, there is no disc (assuming CDG Karaoke disc) involved.

If you ignore your MP3G songs that were imported using some other means, then just put your karaoke CDG disc in the drive and import it.

Hoster 3.313 (current release) does connect to FreeDB, which has some karaoke cdg discs. Also, discs prior to December 2004 are in the built in database in Hoster. For discs not found in either, yes you will need to enter the Title and Artist for each song.

If all the posts here haven't answered your question, then give us more details of exactly what you want to do, keeping in mind importing into Hoster does not require MP3G files, but these can be converted to KMA files, indexed in the Songs Database.

Ok, I see I forgot to mention that I have purchased the Panorama's Top Hits Monthly MP3+G Discs. It seems like a pretty good deal to get 48 - 60 songs on one disc. It costs about 50% less than buying each genre seperatly. They have 3 different versions, one for CAVS, one for WIN MP3+G and another. I purchased the regular WIN MP3+G version when I saw that Hoster can use MP3+G. I Assumed that just like a CD+G disc, I could just put it in the drive and import it.
