trble installing upgrade - DAO error (and other problems)

loaded upgrade version on our karaoke computer and get - trying to configure DAO. Also says it's searching for C:\\docume~1\owner\local~1\temp\_is63. Also when we click on search and it opens the window - once we click in the upper right corner to maximize the screen - the monitor goes blank and we get the message "out of range" Can anyone give us guidance? thanks

What all these errors are telling you is you need to update your Windows. I know your going to say I do the Automatic Update, but that isn't enough. You need to go to Windows Update (in your Start Menu) and do the "Custom" update and update it all. THe "Express" or Automatic updates only install updates that Microsoft has classified as "critical".

Just an FYI this needed to be in the Hoster Help forum not the Hoster New Features forum. Please try to post in the correct forum.

CookieR, did Dale's recommendation help you?

I believe it is the correct answer. We sure wish there was a simple way we could detect what Windows upgrades have been done, but its a complex and changing nightmare that makes this impossible.

DAO issue

Hi guys. No - that didn't help. When we start up Hoster we still get the message it's trying to configure DAO. We're gonna search to see where the dao.msi file is and use the browse button that comes up and point it to where we find it and see if that helps. The program works after we keep cancelling out of the pop-up error windows. Thanks anyway for your help.

The DAO is part of Microsofts Access Database files, that are installed to allow Hoster to open the Database. These errors that you are getting tells me that you have something damaged in your Windows installation. You may not beable to fix it without Reformatting your computer. You would then also need to reload Windows.

You can try to install a version of Access if you have one to see if it will help to correct the issues, then try installing Hoster again using Upgrade.

Bryan,

Do you think this might help if it boils down to having to do a reinstallation of windows?

I'd like your opinion for future reference.
