Coming in from the fog!!!

OK,

So we discontinued Karaoke here at my business for about a year and a half. During that time we have built a new computer for the Karaoke/lighting control. I didn't install hoster, and now I want to. I come to the website, and not only does everything look completely different in the forums, but I am not longer registered, and I can't find my account information.

I know that I started with Hoster 2.011 and had at least one upgrade since then, but for the life of me I can't remember where I am at, and sure cant't find it here!!!!!

WOW, I just looked at my post and it shows that I was registered in May 2003. When I tried to log in yesterday, it said I didn't exist and to register. Am I in the twilight zone??????

HELP!!!!

Jerry

Never Mind!!!!

HMMMM,

When I tried to find all this on Saturday it didn't exist. Today when I noticed the registratration date on my post, I decided to try to log in again, and low and behold, today I exist, and all my info is there.

I suppose it HAD to be pilot error.

In any event, I have not been following the forum for awhile. Is the songbook feature working well now? Is the "last name first, first name first feature working now, or do I still have to rename everything by hand?

Thanks,

Jerry

Lovely

Actually, It turns out that I had purchased an upgrade last February, which evidently entitled me to the latest upgrade as well.

As soon as I get the original installed, and the upgrade, I will begin to learn the new features of Hoster

But, your post really didn't answer any of my questions, now did it?????

Just kidding, the songbook feature has been my major gripe since I started using hoster. Everything else was great, but I am a stickler for correct listings, and that wasn't going to happen with previous versions.

What I want to know is this. All the song file names are created using the manufacturer and disk #. I guess the question is: Is the title and artist information saved in the individual file, or is it called up out of the songbook program using the disk ID? If it were the latter I should be able to creat a correct song book....right????

Actually the Title and Artist information is saved in 2 locations. One is in the header for each kma file which won't help you. The second is in the songs.mdb database file which is the database used by Hoster to list the songs for the playlist. The Songbook uses the information in the database to generate the RTF file you use to print from.

The songbook use exactly the same format that is stored in the database. The database uses one field (column) to store the Artist name. So if you or Lookup database has the Artist entered as lastname first and firstname last then that is the order you get, but if it has been entered as firstname first and lastname last then that is what you get. I hope this is what you are referring to. If not then you will have to explain further.

I'm not sure I think!!!!

I have not been able to register my software due to a conflict that will probably be resolved today, but in previous versions, you were supposed to be able to choose Last name first, or first name first eg. "Tritt, Travis", or "Travis Tritt". when you created your song book, but this feature never worked. We were told that this was because of how the songs were imported into hoster. There were fixes suggeted like rebuilding the kma headers, but these never worked either.

However, when you look at the .kma files, their names are created obviously by using the disk number and manufacturer.

This would seem to tell me that it would rely on the "songs.mdb" provided by MTU to creat the song book either way you wanted. Make sense?

I'm not going to mess with it right now, I will wait till I get a

Apparently the feature you are talking about was removed. The only way I have seen it is as one field with the Artist name being however it is put in. In order to do what you are talking about the name would have to be in 2 or more fields. That would raise all kinds of problems.

Hoster is better with new drive coding to allow many different brands instead of just Plextor and new error correction to really clean up the display.

A tremendous amount of upgrades were added to the Songbook, hopefully including what you are looking for.

Please download and read the manual. There is no way we can "teach" you all that changed through the Forums. It is all in the manual.

You're welcome!

Sometimes things take longer for many reasons. It sounds like we have finally pleased you.

I Hope So

I am waiting to hear back from support as I tried to install this on a new computer, and it says I can't install on more than two. I didn't know I had to un-install from this one before I rebuilt it!!!

I did a little reading in the manual last night, and I can't really tell if my issue has been corrected, but I will soon.

In answer to douglass, the feature is still there to print your songbook either way eg.: First name first = Travis Tritt, or last name first = Tritt, Travis.

My only question remaining is can I recreate my songbook having these all right with my existing kma files, or do I have to correct each file seperately in "song edit"?

We'll see

Thanks,

Jerry
