i have about 13000 songs on an external hard drive and am trying to figure out a way to play them from the drive, through the hoster, without putting them on me computers hard drive. they are compressed mp3g files. ive tried but cant figure it out. im brand new at this so i hope you can help me. thanks.

alright...i've figured out how to play the mp3s but they are already in folders in one area. this is basically how it is.
Soundchoice folder (main folder) Best of ___ (sub folder) Brick sets (sub folder) Powerhouse (sub folder) my new question. is there a way i can leave them in the folders they are in and bring them up using a search because im not sure what songs are in what category. or should i just put them all in one folder and stop being lazy. |

alright, ive figured out quite a bit. here's my final (easy question). when i hit the mpeg button at the top and the open window comes up i type in the name of the song i want played and it says that the .cdg file is not with it. from what i can tell the folder and the files have the same exact name so it tries to open the sound file and not the compressed folder that both are in. so basically my question is...do i have to rename the 13,000 compressed folders so it will open them and not the sound files alone?

you need to rebuild your database in the tools section. point it to the external drive where your kma's are stored. make sure the drive letter doesnt change whe you turn your system or you will either have to change it back or rebuild again.
look here changing drive letter

Have these files been imported into Hoster yet? Are the files in a zip format?

Nukem,
As Lmcains stated, are these files in the .zip format? If so then you will need to click on ZIP for the type of File on the Import HD Tracks Dialog. Also, with them in multipler folders it will take alot longer to import, because you will have to go and open each folder to import the discs from. If you have them all in One Folder, you can set it to that one folder and let it run the Batch Import. If the files are named exactly the same for all 13,000 then it will run through them all. If they are named different, you will have to set the Template for each type of naming scheme that was used. It will then batch import those files, then you will have to do this over and over until you get them all done.

the best way to do it is to search the hard drive for all the .mp3g then drag and drop them into one folder. then batch import them from that folder.
