Angry Issue when importing CDG from HD

I'm currently using the "Import from Hard Drive" functionality when I only need a few songs off a CD (in order to save on Book IDs). However, if I already have a couple of songs loaded that use this Book ID, I can't load any additional ones unless I delete everything with that ID and then load all of them again. For example, I have 69901, 69902 and 69903 already imported from hard drive. I now want to import new .cdg files as 69904 and 69905, but I get an error message saying that Book ID (699) is already in use. In order to get it to work, I have to delete 69901 - 69903 within Hoster, then import 69901 - 69905 in order to get the two new ones. According to the Hoster documentation, you can import up to 99 .cdg files to a single Book ID, but if you have to do them all at the same time, it's more than a bit of a pain (not to mention the amount of disk space it would require to house the 99 .cdg files before they're converted to .kma's). Is this really how it's meant to work? Shouldn't you be able to just import a new file so long as the song # isn't already in use for that Book ID?

I've been doing that as well and haven't had any problems except when I misspell the discid or use a wrong brand.

As long as you are not trying to use a different discid or a different brand from the already imported songs I'm not sure why you can't get it to work.

To clarify what you are doing, you (for example) are importing from one disc, Sound Choice 841, tracks 1, 2 and 3 and they are saving as 69901, 69902, and 69903, then you go and get another disc, Chartbuster 60232, and want to import tracks 6, 9, and 13 as 69906, 69909 and 69913. Is that correct?
Two answers:
1. You can't do it like that. The book ID root number 699 is linked to SC841 once you import even one track from that disc. You can only import other tracks from the same disc to that book ID number.
2. You can do it like that, IF you choose custom assembly as the disc brand, AND you enter all the information for each track by hand AND don't get confused and forget where you left off.

You should not have to worry about running out of bookID numbers, so even if you only import one track from each CD, let the program assign the book ID and use the built in database for song info.

If I have misunderstood your question, please explain further....

importing .cdg from hard drive (not from CD)

No - I'm using Microstudio to save the files in .cdg format to the hard drive, then using Hoster to import them from the hard drive. Doing it this way makes the files independent from what CD they came from. I rename the files to give them a "custom" brand so that they will import as if they were all from the same "disk". I would expect that I could continue to add songs this way up to the 99 allowed per Book ID, but in order to add the next one in sequence, I have to delete them all from Hoster (so the Book ID is no longer in use), and then reimport ALL of them again. Not what I would expect to have to do.

As long as those "custom" brands and discid are the same I can't see any reason why it won't work for you.

The only time you should get the "bookid in use" error msg, whether importing from CD or HD, is when the brand and/or discid do not match what is already on record for that bookid.

import .cdg file from HD

I tried it again last night and it worked just fine (which I'm glad of). I must have just had something glitchy, though I don't know what. I do know that the first time I tried an import from the hard drive, the file names saved without the brand information (instead of KK-10-2.wma the file was just 10-2.wma - should have been my first clue that something was wrong, but it was my first time using the feature so didn't know if this was just the way it did it or not). Thanks everyone for looking into this. Another case of user error!

I had something similar happen, tho I was importing directly from the disc. My pc froze because I had another application running at the time after only importing 5 songs off the disc. I had to reboot and tried to import the remaining songs. It showed the the loaded songs as imported, but would not let me import the remaining songs off the disc under the same book ID.
