trouble transfering mp3 files to Hoster format
Please find below a copy of Doug’s E Mail to me on how to find and transfer mp3 files that were loaded onto a 300 gig external drive (using sax and doty) so I could transfer them onto another 300 gig external drive in such a format that they could be properly transferred to hoster. Doug was kind enough to spend quite a bit of time helping me with this but I ran into a few glitches following these instructions he E mailed to me yesterday. I have inserted a description of the trouble I ran into inside parentheses (USING ALL CAPS)
DOUG wrote: Ken, Step: 1: Start Menu: Go to Search. For All Files Step 2: type in *.mp3 and hit search for the external drive with the mp3g files Step 3: Highlight the first result, then click your shift key (hold it) and the End key. All files should highlight. Let up End Key first. Step 4: Right click your mouse on the highlighted files, and go to Copy. Open another Windows Explorer (right click mouse on start menu and click Explore). Step 5: Create a folder on your external drive (formatted one) called Hoster Import Songs. Step 6: Open this folder, and right click your mouse in it. Go to Paste. And the files will take some time to copy over to this drive. ( WHEN I TRY TO PASTE I GET A WINDOW WITH A MESSAGE -"CANNOT COPY FILE: CANNOT READ FROM SOURCE FILE"- MAYBE THESE KARAOKE FILES WERE JUST TO LARGE A FILE? THIS MORNING MY COMPUTER HAD A FLAG MESSAGE ON THE BOTTOM LINE THAT SAID I WAS LOW ON VIRTUAL MEMORY AND MEMORY REQUESTS FOR SOME APPLICATIONS MAY BE DENIED WHILE WINDOWS IS INCREASING THE SIZE O MY VIRTUAL MEMOREY PAGING FILE. WHAT CAN I DO TO TRANSFER THESE SONGS?) THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTINUE; Open Hoster. Go to import Hard drive files, mp3g type, and point it to this newly created folder. Do batch import and all files with the same format we previously defined will import. Usually takes about 1/3 of a second per file....i.e. 15000 songs will take about 1hour and 45 minutes to convert. You can then go back into the external hard drive with Hoster songs and remove the .mp3 and .cdg files. You will now have .kma files in place of them. To load them into Hoster: To rebuild the database for the songs to be found. Follow instructions below: Click on Tools menu in Hoster: Select Build Songs Database For song source folders you need to add in all folders that hold your KMA files.(these would be the ones on your hard drive) For song database destination folder: click browse and find the file find below to enter: C:\Program files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases Once all of the above is complete click on build songs database. This should not take long but will give you access to your songs again. Check your playlist for songs after this. If they are not there let me know. I would appreciate any help I can get on this problem. Thank you. |
