Lost color in karaoke monitor..

Probably not a hoster issue but maybe someone can help..

After installing and hooking up my hoster program I was practicing with it the other day.. For some reason I lost color on my 2nd monitor disply (Television). It was working fine and then all the sudden I was only getting a black/white display for the karaoke songs.. I checked the tv and that is fine.. Thanks for any help/ideas..

I'm not an expert but I would guess it to be a problem with:

A) a bad Svideo cable. A broken pin or solder joint. Try switching it with a known good cable.

B) TV itself. You indicated the TV was OK but did you check by plugging something else into it or just switch back to TV programming.

C) Graphics card? If you've got color on your monitor I would guess it's not that unless the svideo jack on the card is faulty.

There was a thread on here several months ago about getting color on a TV but I think they had no color from day one. It might be worth doing a search for though.

My money is on the cable.
Just uneducated guesses here but I hope it helps.

While I was still importing my discs, and was having severe importing problems; I was using both my computer and a karaoke disc player. Hence, i was using an RF adapter. Now, that I am using just the computer/Hoster; at one of my gigs, the TV is not showing in color. It is in color at all my other gigs, and I have tried to dup0licate the problem at home. I have tested all of my cords and outlets. The only thing diffferent is I am not using my RF adapter at this one gig, because it is a big screen tv, with RCA inputs; same as at home. Even the owner tried to make adjustments, to no avail. I am trying to avoid the hassle of moving the tv (from a difficult spot) to switch to the rf adapter again. Any RCA tv genuises out there?

That happens to me when I have Hoster and another soft running. For Example, When I have Hoster and MixMeister open at the same time one of them loses colors.

Does your modulator have an Ohms switch?
One bar I play I have to use the RF modulator. In one position everything off the computer looks good while anything from the karaoke player loses it's contrast especially with CB disks - It becomes hard to tell the swiped words from the non. When I flip the switch the graphics from the player are perfect and the colors from the computer become dark and muddy.
At another bar I play I plug into their system. Their modulator is a cheapie from walmart with no Ohms switch, the video from the computer is dark and muddy (but not quite as bad as at the first bar) and the video from the player are perfect.
I use a modulator at home with a little TV I use just for the computer, the ohms switch on it has to be set to the crappy setting just to get the computer to detect the TV. After boot up I can change it to the other setting for a good picture.

To make a long story short............oops too late. Try a modulator with switchable ohms

Also excessively long coax cable runs can cause you to lose color in which case an amplifier can usually cure that.

Hoster and Mixmeister on my computer refuse to co-exist. One always crashes the other

make sure you get all updates from the video card manufacturer, not from microsoft's updates.

this is important

I just got a good scare
While importing a disk I just happened to look over at the TV and realized it was in B&W.
I played with the SVIDEO cable and it flickered a lot so I know it's going bad but none of the flickering was in color so I thought something else must be going on. I connected a Karaoke player to the FM modulator and got good color, I connected my backup pc to the svideo cable and got color. I thought for sure my graphics card was having problems (3 hours before a show) the cables I use at the show were already there and setup so I couldn't switch out the cables. I disconnected both ends of the cable to examine for damage and saw none but when I reconnected it, it started flickering back and forth between B&W and Color...big sigh of relief.
Just a bad svideo cable. I hope your problem was as simple.

Boy, I can sure understand the scare. I have tried different cables, checked for damage. It works fine at home, and at others venues; but, not at this one particular bar. There was color before; but, not now. The owner and I spent some time trying to adjust the TV, an RCA big screen. No luck. The only answer I know of is to use coax with an RF modulator; but, he is reluctant to pull the TV out from the wall and make any changes to his satellite connections. Second choice, I could split between the big screen and a smaller tv sitting next to it.
