HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

I have purchased the program hoster 3.06 and love it. PROBLEM!!!! The system crashes as in computer freezes at least once a night. Last night it was twice. I have a new Toshiba laptop........use a Auduigy 2 sound card. Everything ese runs perfect (i.e PCDJ). I have a gig of memory run pentium 4 3.20ghz processor and external hard drive for the music. Once it did it after loading a disc from a customer but now the late three shows it happens after about two hours of the show right in the middle of a song!! HELP!! I can't stay with it wondering if the next song it's going to crash again!!! Need help quick !! three more shows next week

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

Beavis is right... be sure to install Hoster again. I'd suggest you first REMOVE and then REINSTALL to insure all that can be removed has been and is replaced. We do not remove any KMA files, Songs Database, or your persistent preference settings. These will not affect performance however.

There are several others who have reported crashing when adding a track from a Singer's disc to the Playlist, but so far this has not surfaced as a true Hoster bug. It appears this started with 3.006.

We are expecting to release Hoster 3.104 early next week. One user in FL who has experienced a lot of crashes with Singer's disc tracks is currently testing 3.104 on his system to see if it still does this. So far, we are suspecting his Plextor drive may be malfunctioning.

As to crashes at 2 hours, this has never been reported before. It sounds like something on your computer has changed.

You clearly have the compute power and RAM so that's not the issue.

Test the system with Hoster running for a long time at home. Open your Task Manager (press Ctrl-Alt-Del) and click the Performance Tab to watch the CPU utilization. Also, check the free RAM. If you see anything increasing these resources, then you have some other program running in background with a memory leak, or other consuming problem.

How long (month-wise) have you been using Hoster before you noticed the crashing at 2 hours? What I'm probing for is whether Hoster was stable for weeks/months, then started exhibiting this behavior. I believe that will be the case if you seriously think about it. Then, think what might have been done to the computer around that time. Please let us know what you come up with.

MTUSUPPORT may have some ideas next Monday. I'll notify him to be sure and read this thread.

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

this happened the first night I used the program. The second show was fine.........but every show after it that it has locked up at least once. I have to shut the computer off......reboot..everything stays as is (i.e the song list and singers) and then it's fine again. Though last night it did freeze twice.....2nd time 6 songs after reboot. Everything else as I said works fine.....PCDJ....etc. Please advise as to next step. thanks

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

This has to be something in your computer. I have never had another customer tell me this. Beavis, and MikeDombroski use this software all the time, and they have been for over 2 years each. Neither have ever had it do this, that I am aware of.

There are also many more clients who use this software very heavily without any problems. I would look more into your computer, and if it still happens, you might have to reformat the system to see if this will fix it.

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

It could be the computer is having a problem with auto updating. Make sure anything that auto updates is turned off. Norton programs.....windows up dates.....spyware....ect. antivirus could possibly be in the mix?????

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

i use hoster 6 nights a week and i only have had it freeze while loadin a singers disk but it has never crashed usally just have to close hoster and restart it but never have to reboot pc what i do is just import all my singers disk during my dance set in between each rotation so that way if something happens then it dont happen when someone is singin mtu is close to releasin 3.1 and that should take care of everyone.

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

the last two sows now have been ok. I have not loaded a dics into the system though during either one of the shows. It's could be the disc loading maybe that is doing it? Could be coincidence too I suppose. How can I get a copy of the upgrade and trust loading a disc should someone bring one in. Two peple weren't happy last night because I didn't want to take a chance with a show that was going well and a full house!!
I have the plextor 716 burner and as I said all upgrades have been made. The new version available? I and leary of crashing again with an imported disc. Suggestions?

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

I had a problem with my computer crashing and giving me problems that I couldn't figure out. Not nessesarily loading peoples disks but just whenever it decided to. I narrowed it down to the sound card I was using. I was using the audigy external ummm.... NX I believe. This was on a regular pc mind you but I was still using an external. So I bought a 29.00 internal sound blaster, loaded the correct software and havn't had the problem since. Maybe this could help. Oh by the way does anyone know if you still have to turn down the hardware acceleration on the sound cards or is that problem taken care of?

Re: HELP!!! SYSTEM CRASHES.....EVERY Night

never update your video drivers through windows updates. go straight to the manufacturer.
