help! unrecgnized database format...error!

hi,
i have been running my karaoke show now for aout 1 month now and works awesome until this last tue!! I have hoster 3.006 and windows xp. I have hoster on the c drive kma files on my 200 gig external and im running off of a shuttlex; amd sempron that all i know. Well in middle of running the show i went to play the next song and brought up an error that read :

unrecgnized database format 'c:\programfiles\microtechnologyunlimited \hoster\databases\songs.mdb (3343)

then it reads:
want to see help? I click yes then it reads can not find jeterr35.hlp file. Do you want to find it yourself?

Well i tried rebuilding the database but it won't switch back to the drive my hard drive is on...you can't even delete it in the box which keeps reading c:drive..etc

I tried rebooting and i tried system restore and it didn't help. I have hoster exe on my computer but if i resetup hoster do i have re-install? Meaning do i have to re put my registration in? Cuzz last time they said that i had re-installed too many time and they weren't going to let me re-install but you guys are the best and fixed it for me but i just don't want to keep doing that. But I think im going to upgrade to the new hoster!!! Anyways...let me know if you need more info and thanks for your time always.....!

first thing i would do is upgrade to 3.108.....its free.

Then i would delete the songs.mdb in the this folder:
c:\programfiles\microtechnologyunlimited \hoster\databases\songs.mdb

make sure the drive letter on your external hard drive stays the same.

Dont delete your kma's !!!!!!!!!!

Dana,

The songs.mdb file can be found at:
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases\songs.mdb.
As Beavis has stated, delete the file "songs.mdb."

The songs.mdb file is created by Hoster each time you run "Build Songs Database..." from the Tools menu. This file contains the header information from each kma (song) file in your library and the path (directory) information so Hoster can find a song and play it.

When you run the "Build Songs Database..." make sure that the drive letter and path displayed at the top of the dialog window matches the drive letter and path where your kma's are located. The wrong drive letter and path information here can cause problems.

One of the problems I have run into is external USB devices, CD rom and hard drives. The computer operating system can give these devices different letter designations depending on the order that they are plugged into your system. One time an external hard drive can get an "G" letter the next time an"H". If you built your songs.mdb file when the drive letter was "G" and the next time you hooked up the hard drive it was an "H", well you can see where a problem can arise.

Drive letters can be changed using Control Panel.

Hope some of this information is helpful.

Gary

Dana,
As stated above Delete the Songs.mdb in the location that they posted to you. Then rebuild the Songs Database as they also stated above. This will fix the problem.

songs mdb

Bryan the reason some people cant find the songs mdb is because
they have there hide file ext on
so the folder does not show mdb
when you look at it in the database folder.

Use your original download link. It should deliver the free upgrade if you are eligible for it.

If not then you may need to purchase the upgrade from the store, then use your original download link after the transaction has cleared.

If that "something" is telling you that you've used up your 99 downloads then it sounds like you have a download accellerator installed that's eating up your downloads. First you'll need to identify it and turn it off. Then MTU will have to reset your downloads for you.

If you're on AOL, I've heard they have recently beefed up their download accellerators, and are causing problems. You may have to contact their support if you can't figure out how to turn them off.

If you have no known download accellerator programs installed on the pc, then I'd advise contacting Charter and see if they have one on their system, and if so, how to turn it off.

If not, then ask the people you bought the computer from if it came with a download accellerator installed.

If this does involve a download accellerator, which that message you're getting when you click your download link seems to indicate, purchasing the upgrade, or resetting your current download link wouldn't solve the problem.

Your record shows you have tried 15 times to install Hoster.

George is right. You have a download accelerator enabled. These programs try to do parallel downloads from multiple points in a file being downloaded.

You have two options:

1. Get your internet provider support to help you disable your download accelerator.

2. Order the $12 CDROM at MTU's store (includes mailing costs) and we will put Hoster 3.108 on it and mail it to you.

I'm sorry you are having these problems. Please try to get your accelerator disabled, or at least find out what it is called and learn how to turn it on and off. It can't be running when you try to download our software.

Dana, you entered the wrong email with your order.

I just found the download email and forwarded it to your correct email address. 'tis what we call "pilot error".
