Mp3+g.zip Problem

Anyone else having trouble with the mp3.zip files, When I try to load a zip file hoster locks up. This happens when I click the mp3 button at the top of the screen scroll down select the zip file then press open on the dialog box, once this happens and it happens everytime I select a zip file, I have to press control alt delete and bring up task manager to end hoster. I can still play the normal mp3+g files. I am using an AMD 1.5GIG MACHINE WITH 512MEG RAM and windows small business server2003

I was having an issue with this too, all started to work once I had made a single book entry.

Is the source of your Zips on your C drive ?

I am not sure what you mean by making a book entry I had several songs in the playlist
My source drive for all hoster kma and mp3 files is the H Drive
h:\mtu\hoster\songs for kma files

h:\mp3 for the mp3+g and mp3 +g.zip files

the actual hoster program resides on Drive E

I also noticed that after upgrading to the new version the display is a little slow to redraw after selecting a normal mp3+g file it seems to take a few seconds for the file to be place and redraw screen. Another problem that occured after upgrading to 3005 is that I had to reinstall the audio card software. once the upgrade was compete I lost my audio drivers. I am using sound blaster live for audio card . I also had to disable mtu's ide support I lost my scsi driver once disabled the scsci driver returned. I did not have these troubles with the version 3000 I hope this additional info will help you track my troubles down

Hi All,

If you are having trouble playing zip files it is most likely due to the compression set when the zip file was made. Hoster seems to have an issue when a zip file has been compressed at anything other than "normal." If you move your mouse over the zip file and it doesn't say bad span or bad zip then the file is most likely is ok. Unzip the contents and rezip using "normal" compression. Once the new zip is created, try playing in Hoster. It should work. This zip playing error was discovered after much investigation. Let me know what the results of your test produce.

Ok I unzipped the files and recompressed I also used a program called mp3tools which will compress the 2 files after recompressing I tried to play again and again the hoster program appeared to lock up on me, I had to use task manager to end the program. After selecting the zip file and pressing open I waited for about 10minutes but nothing happened

Hi Jim,

That program you used is not the best for file compression in my opinion and Hoster cannot unzip files compressed with mp3+g toolz. Use winzip 9 or pkzip 8, either have trial versions. Make sure compression is set to "normal." I have used mp3+g toolz for compression and in my case could never get it to work with Hoster regardless of what compression level I set.

Is unzipping and rezipping the only way to fix this? I eagerly anticipated this feature, but I do not eagerly anticipate having to do that with all of my files.

Mp3+gtoolz is pretty much a standardly used free utility, I would hope they fix the code to work with it........

You can use MP3+G Toolz. I have just tried version 4.0 and it works fine. Just make sure that whatever you do, DO NOT use Winzip 9.0 with Maximum Compression (Enhanced Deflate). This option also gives you a Message stating the following, before you zip the file.

Maximum (Enhanced Deflate) compression may not be compatible with some older versions of WinZip and other compression programs. Click on "Yes" to continue or "No" to change compression.

This is the only setting that I can reproduce this problem with. We are working on adding some error checking to not allow this to be added. As at this moment we have no way to fix this problem.

FYI,

In 3.108, when attempting to play A Zip file that contains an uppercase ".MP3" file extension will render the error:

"This is not a valid MP3G zip file! A file is missing"

But, if you rename the *.MP3 to *.mp3 It will play.

This is not the case with MP3g's that are not zipped. They will play either way.

I stumbled on to this while playing around with file names. I had inadvertently changed the file extension to an upper case.

I was able to recreate the problem by changing the case back and forth to upper and lower.

This has now been fixed in Version 3.109 we are working on.
