Kar to Zip conversion

Hello to all you hard working party animals.

Having spent many hours importing several hundred disks into Hoster, and with several hundred more to go I cannot face it. I'm going to zip my disks up and just set them up in a Karaoke Folder and use another (more reliable and up to date) Song Book program for my song books. Does anyone know how to get a KMA file to give up the mp3 and cdg file?
From what I can see, and I may be wrong, KMA is a is a tool to join two tab-delimited files. You can generate a tab-delimited file with Microsoft Excel by saving your results and choosing the tab-delimited format (.txt).

Having said that I don't see any practicle way to reverse that process. Any ideas anyone?

Re: Kar to Zip conversion

First, KMA files currently do NOT contain .MP3 audio and .CDG RW files. We use the Windows WMA audio compressor, which is superior to MP3.

Hoster 3.1 is under final development. It allows importing MP3G and ZIP files that do contain MP3 and CDG files, and converting them to a new KMA format that will add to the Songs Database, and the Song Book.

If you are going to ZIP your files, to save yourself work importing into Hoster, use this naming convention:

DiscID-Track# - Songname - Artistname.zip or,

DiscID-Track#-Songname-Artistname.zip

Then, you can import each DiscID's tracks at a time into Hoster's Songs Database.

Why is it taking so long to import with Hoster?
Is it the DiscIDs you are importing are not in our Import Database?
Is it your discs are Multisession protected?
Or is there some other reason?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Kar to Zip conversion

Just noticed you are taking about KAR to ZIP... I thought you have the original CDG discs? I don't know if KAR format will work at all in Hoster. The ZIP format we support requires a .cdg lyric only file and a .mp3 audio compressed file. Forgive my misreading your posts.

Too sum this up really quickly. There are no utilities to convert KMA files to anything.

Best,

Roger
