Song name questions

Hello all After several very frustrating weeks I finally got the right CD writer (a plextor USB) and found this software. Ok... so I am starting to import the CDG files to the hard drive and when I import them I have been typing file names in manually. I have read that there is an automatic way to do this but so far I am not sure how to do it. At any rate after I import them and look at the hard drive you see the file names that I have typed. The problem is that when I go to the program to play songs from either hard drive or disk (that I have copied to) there are no names of songs.... just says "Track 1".....to whatever track number there is. Obviously this is not good at all

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Song name questions

Well... kinda... I'm still typing everything in manually, but it appears that this is "normal' for this program. At this time, yes I think it is resolved Thanks for making sure though

Re: Song name questions

Michael, please run Hoster, click the Help menu and click the Read Manual command.

In the manual, in the Table of Contents, you will see an "IMPORTING" section in the first column. Please read it. It appears you are not using any of the automatic features to insure your discs are identified correctly. Since the BookID is forced to be unique before you can import any tracks for a Disc, that part is going to be OK for you and your Song Books will have this BookID for your singers to request.

Re: Song name questions

Forgive me...

George just brought to my attention, that I have lost it!

I have been up all night working on Hoster... and Hoster is not what you are using.

Microstudio has no automatic naming features. Hoster does.

Re: Song name questions

Michael,

I think what may be confusing you is the AUTO NAME FILES button on the imports page. It is confusing. That button does not make the program read the names of the tracks and enter them, as one may be logically inclined to think.

What it does is replicate on all subsequent tracks you select from one or more cd's whatever PROJECT FILE NAME you wish to assign the tracks you select from a cd. Then you can insert another disc, open that project, and add to it to complete a custom disc...make sense?

I never use it, as to me it becomes too confusing, having to keep track of what the tracks in the project are by song name. I just type in the song names to begin with, just as you are doing, and add them by name to a custom assembly for burning.

Sorry I didn't pick up on that when I first read your post,, assuming that's what threw you.

take care,

George

Re: Song name questions

George is right on the Auto name files check box. However, if you enter the DiscID here, Microstudio automatically adds a "-" and the Track#.

We are about to Beta Test a new Hoster 3.100 version that allows importing CDG songs on the hard drive (imported using Microstudio). This operation requires the DiscID and Track# be in the .cdg filename to automatically identify the song. It then goes to our Import Database and if the DiscID is there, it will find and fill in the Song and Artist names for each track. Just a heads up in case you may be considering Hoster in the future.
