Re: Upgrading to new version

I've got another question about loading new versions of hoster. I am not very skilled with computers, so don't laugh. I just downloaded 3.0(wicked cool) Can I just drag and drop the icons for the past updated versions to hoster, like all of my 2.... versions to the trash can and remove them. My hard drive is getting a bit full. Or should I keep the last version and the 3.0 icon there to play it safe.

Thanks Brian and Dave for all of your assistance.

Re: Upgrading to new version

Thanks for the response, but I thing I worded it wrong. Can I safely delete the icons the the previous updates the hoster 2.XXX?

I don't know if I should do it or not.

I realize that I should keep the 3.0, but do I really need to keep them.

I have 2 120 gig hard drives, one is the main one, the other is the back up.

Re: Upgrading to new version

Havent the foggiest idea what you're talking about.

Like Beavis said when you upgrade you still wind up with only one shortcut on your desktop, upgraded to the latest version, so what previous shortcuts are you talking about removing???

That's what he said, not programs, which of course can be deleted. So can extra shortcuts, but he shouldn't even have any extra of those. They don't take up much space anyway.

If it's the extra programs, and he does have shortcuts for them, he must not be installing them all in the same folder, or something else is going on. Just deleting a shortcut doesn't remove the program anyway, so little space would be gained just deleting them.

The programs themselves would have to be deleted from the folder they're in, saving the prior one like you suggested.

Re: Upgrading to version 3.0

Thanks guys for your input.

Please understand that my knowledge is minimal, so pretent you're talking to a 5 year old....I take that back, my 5 year old is already learning about computers in kindergarden....ha ha ha !!!

When I downloaded the newer versions of 2.XX, I have the icons still left on the screen. If I delete these icons, is there still the program file left in my hard drive. I don't know if they are just icons, or are they program files that have the older versions of the program sitting there.

Thanks for your patience with me, I am still leraning.

Re: Upgrading to version 3.0

Yeah...that's what happens. Once it downloads, I then click on the icon to finish the instal process.

Markymark,
Yes, you can delete the Old Installation Programs without creating any problems.
