Unhappy Wrong song comes up

Too many songs I have chosen have come up with the wrong title.
I would say at least 50% of the time, Now what I mean is when I search for let say "Billy Joel's PianoMan" I find it and select it to go to my show list, and then it put's in "Bette Midler's From a distance" ! now when I try to play it, it plays "from a Distance" So you can imagine how promblematic this can be!

I thought it was due to a corrupt database but have rebuild it several times but it still comes up the same, I thought that I must have imported the discs wrong but when I re-imported (a few) of them I got the same problem, So I put my detective hat on and tried to find a common link that could spell some answers and I think I found it!

It appears that somehow I have on average 3 songs (all different titles from different manufac.) sharing the same book ID ! And that what ever song is the last one on the lists is the song that get's to play!
Example: under book ID I type in 62 and
6201 - Born in the USA
6201 - Lady Love
6201 - From a Distance
6202 - Chances Are
6203 - Year of the Cat
How this is possible I don't know, nor do I know how to rectifly it. When I try to import a new cd it WILL install it to an already assigned book ID, So it seems that the program for some reason is not making sure I don't use the same book ID.

I am not manualy setting the book ID number and have always relied on using the "next book ID #" button. I have over 30,000 songs imported already so any suggestions other than trying to reimport them all would be helpful!
I am using Version 2.219 but found the problem with previous version also.

I also get "audio gliches" in the beginnings of songs
Has anyone else experienced these problem?

Thanks

Ernie

Re: Wrong song comes up

I have found on some sound choice, and chartbuster they say one thing on the disk, and another song is on the track. More than likely you didnt check the titles and artist when importing, and imported with the wrong information.

the only soklution is to get the cd, and sheck the tracks and find out what is on each one, and reimport. Correcting the mistakes. I Imported like 13,000 tracks the first time, and I was quite a while finding my mistakes, and learning to double check.. and double check again.

when you find this mark the track with the button that does this, and check it when you get home. more than likely you will have a full disk, or more to correct. don't just assume the one track is bad, check the songs on bothe sides of it. every song on the disk may be wrong.

I am constantly having songs on the same disk used over and over, and this could be only one disk causing this.

Re: Wrong song comes up

Thanks for your replies but I think were missing a critical point, I am aware that some cdg's come with an added song in the middle which would throw off every song after that one by one, and to re-import it would be the thing to do or edit and correct the right name to the song, But that's not what seems to be happening here, If you look at my example in my original post, It seems to be in the software which is allowing different songs of different disc to be place under the same book ID number, Why the software is allowing this I don't know. From my understanding it is not supposed to but I don't know how to get around this, I have re-imported a few and got the same result, Re- built the data base serveal times, I'm using version 2.219 on windows 2000. So I think the focus has to be under the BOOK ID PROBLEM

Thanks

Ernie

Re: Wrong song comes up

ARE YOU USING MORE THAN 1 UNIT TO IMPORT YOUR SONGS

WHAT YOU ARE SEEING IS A BOOK ID USED MORE THAN ONCE
are you opening more than one verison of hoster at a time ??

the header as the info in it
open up your song mdb or the data file in excel and check the bookid for dupe id

Re: Wrong song comes up

The problem is that most likely you have imported your songs between your systems, and didn't keep the numbering of the BookId's correct. This is the only way that you could have gotten multiple BookId's without doing this, at some point.

MikeDombroski pointed this out to me. The only way to get around this is to find these files on your hard drive and delete the Duplicates. You will then have to Reimport the discs that you have duplicated.
