2.219 Singer Names Display Command

I can't get Singer Names display to work. In the manual I can follow all of the instructions right up until we get to the drag n drop part.

What I'm reading is take the singers display window and drag n drop it into the #2 monitor in the display properties dialog box. The singers display window will not drag n drop for me. I messed around with this for a couple of hours trying different methods with no luck.

Am I missing something here?

Also what do you mean by clone mode? I have two options on my dual display settings:
1. Multiple Monitors on NiVidia GeForce
2. Default Monitor On NiVidia GeForce

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

Flipper, you'r reading it wrong. Once Hoster is properly set up, the drag and drop is to move the singer's names to the remote tv the same as you did the singer's lyrics screen.

Clone mode is a duplication of everything that's on the desktop, shortcuts and all. You dont want that.

You need Extended Desktop mode.
In the Display Properties box, click on monitor #2 to highlight it.

Then check the box that says Extend My Windows Desktop Onto This Monitor.

Seems like you should have already been there if Hoster was working properly before the upgrade.

That being the case, all you had to do was have the tv on and drag the singer's names box over to the tv the same as you did the Lyrics screen.

Hope this helps,

George

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

I have no problem understanding extending the desktop to another monitor.

The problem Im having is understanding how I drag n drop the singers name box over to the tv. Obviously I'm missing something in your translation.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

in order to see both song being played and the singer list

the way we like it is to resize you singer tv the song box
put your cusor on the tv side
about half way up on the left of the tv near the edge when you see the two arrow fron left drag your singer scren from left two right making it about 1 inch smaller
then take your singer list and make it fit the opening you just made on the tv
drag it from the top to the bottom and from left to right to fill the 1 in c space
then you will see them both all the time

now the first song you play will cover up the list
at this point in time whill the song is playing go over on the tv scren and double click on the tv scren
and it wll resize to view both
once you do this the first time it will hold that setting for the rest of the night

ps show your list from top to bottm
not across the top
the reason why is if you strech your song list across the top or bottom
it will make the words smaller from the song
if you do it from side and pull it to the left or right the words stay the same size

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

Are you sure you turned it on? It did not work for me when I clicked on it on the screen. You have to turn it on from the tools menu. There is a menu line for it in the tools menu. When you select it, you have to configure it.

Hope this helps.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

you can turn it on and off by double clicking the SND button next to the timer. be carefull turning it on while someone is singing because it will show up on top of the singers display. Kind of handy though to do during long instrumentals or outros, then just single click on the singers screen and it will drop to the back or double click SND again to turn it off.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

None of the above works for me to get the singer's name display to show on the TV.

I went to tools and turned it on and the little box poped up with the names on the laptop screen. I dragged it all over the place, and double clicked it as I did to solve my singer display problem, in another post.

Nothing. It will not show up on the TV, only on the laptop screen and I see no value in that, as I can already see the names as to who is singing in the playlist.

I would like for it to show on the TV who is coming up next as it would get people to be ready to come up and sing, but I can't get it to happen.

at the top of your tv move your cusrcer over to your tv grab one of the coners of the scren and make it smaller then move you singer list over

if you can see it on the hoster side
then you can resize your tv and move it over there

i know we are just not wording it right for you
but i dont know any other way t tell you how to do this

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

Is this what I do?

I first make the singers list show up on my laptop screen. I then make my curser show up on the TV screen and move it to a corner of the screen and grab a corner of the screen and make it smaller, so that the singer list can show up on the TV.

I assume I have to right or left click in order to grab a corner of the TV screen. Is that correct?

I then right or left click on the singer name list on the laptop, and drag it so it shows up on the TV.

I would perfer that the singers names be behind the song lyrics, so that it will only show, after the song is over. I understand this can be done, but I don't see a command for this.

Last night all went well at my show with the upgrade, and today I will try the above to get this feature working. I will also read the manual to see if that helps me understand this more.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

Another option.
On your laptop screen, size the box the way you want. From the tools/singer name display, configure how many names, whether you want song titles displayed as well, and font style and size and color, if default is not satisfactory (default was to small for my liking).Click OK and then grab the screen with the mouse and slide it over to your TV. The screen is persistant so it will stay wherever you put it. Unless you set it up the way mikedombroski suggests, the screen will stay behind the lyrics untill the song stops.

Neither way is right or wrong, it's just 2 different options.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

Im assuming that when you both refer to TV you mean the preview window on the left side of the screen. Is this correct?

I have followed both ways and still cannot get the singers name display to show on the TV I'm sending it to. The lyrics show just fine but the singers name display does not. It shows just fine in hoster but not on the TV.

In the process of adjusting the size of this window in hoster something happened and I cannot find the Singers Display window at all. All the settings are enabled and the SND is Green. The window has now disappeared.

I even tried reinstalling 2.219 to see if that helps.....nope! still cant find it.

God......I'm so frustrated!

The good news is that 2.219 is working perfectly on all other upgrades and my show will be so much better as a result of those improvements. Sure wish I could figure this problem out though.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

The Singers Name Display (SND) will disappear if the Right-Hand side, of the SND Window, was located on the Right-Hand Margin, of the KJ Monitor, and, you tried to drag the SND window, but instead of "Dragging" the Complete Window, one places the cursor at the LEFT SND Margin, and resizes the SND Window to nothing (a Vertical Line...with NO width).

The following is what happened to me...

I had the SND displaying on the SINGER's Monitor in a Two-monitor setup in my home. So, when Hoster was opened, the SND automatically appeared on the Singer's Monitor.

Well, I share this same Singer's Monitor with a JVC Player, and, at some point, I switched RCA cables to hook up the JVC to test CDG Discs.

Then, I needed to go back to Hoster for more testing with the SND. At this point, I looked over at the Singer's Monitor and realized I had not switched the Video Input to Hoster and, so, the SND was not displaying.

I got lazy and just decided to move my Mouse off the Right-hand side of the KJ's Monitor in order to GRAB the SND Window, to DRAG it over to the KJ's Monitor, IN THE BLIND. Well, for some reason, the SND was not coming over, even though I was sure I was in the correct quadrant to Grab it.

At this point, I disconnected the JVC and connected Hoster’s Video so I could see what I was doing. To my surprise, I could NOT find the SND. After a time, of trying to figure out what happened to the SND, I noticed a slightly thicker-than-normal Right-Hand Border. This turned out to be my SND Window, which took some effort to manipulate back off the Right-Hand Margin.

So, what had happened was that, when I was fumbling in the BLIND, I inadvertently grabbed the RIGHT Vertical Margin, of the SND Window, and, as I was attempting to DRAG what I thought was the WHOLE SND WINDOW, I, actually, resized the SND Window to a Vertical LINE that was, now, positioned at the RIGHT-Hand side of the KJ Monitor, which would be the same as the LEFT-Hand side of the Singer's Monitor...basically disappearing.

Your circumstance may vary, but the principle is the same. So, for anyone who has a SND Window that has "Disappeared," I suspect it is crunched in a Vertical Line on the Right-Hand side of your KJ Monitor.

Hope this helps...it happens to the best of us,

Norm

ADMIN: NO! The TV is the second low resolution display (#2 when setting up the dual-display mode), not your computer monitor with high resolution. The SND (Singer Names Display) window will NOT appear in the Preview window on the left side of the Playlist screen (beside the Add Tracks group of controls).

I have followed both ways and still cannot get the singers name display to show on the TV I'm sending it to. The lyrics show just fine but the singers name display does not. It shows just fine in hoster but not on the TV.

ADMIN: If you have the Singers Display (not the Preview window the host sees) that shows the lyrics to the performer on the second display (TV), then your dual-display system should be set up correctly. Is this the case? If not, then please read your dual display card manual and set it up correctly.

In the process of adjusting the size of this window in hoster something happened and I cannot find the Singers Display window at all. All the settings are enabled and the SND is Green. The window has now disappeared.

ADMIN: I think NReel might have defined your problem. We do have persistence on the SND window, so if you shrink it to a thin line, it may be difficult to find and move. I expect this is your situation. However, make sure you have the SND button GREEN, not RED. If it is RED, the SND window is DISABLED and not visible. Double clicking (with left mouse button) the SND button will make it change back to GREEN background, and the SND window is now visible.... somewhere.

I even tried reinstalling 2.219 to see if that helps.....nope! still cant find it.

Red face Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

I personally still cannot get the SND to show on the Singer's TV either. I am grabbing it and dragging it off to the left of the laptop monitor, and it does not come up on the TV. I have the wallpaper showing on the TV when doing this. Maybe I'm suppose do disable the wallpaper because maybe the display is going behind it???

This is so much trouble, I am going to give up on it after one more try. Maybe when I drag it off the left side of the laptop display, I need to keep at it more with my mouse, and if I do that long enough it will show up on the TV. I do know that sometimes during a show, I see my curser on the TV and not on the laptop. I then have to take several bites with the mouse before the curser come to the laptop. I will now do this in reverse with the SND.

The rest of the Hoster program works fine as always.

And MTU, I have read the manual regarding this and still can't do it. If everyone else is doing it, then I must be STUPID. This is amazing to me, because I have used Hoster for over a year, and upgraded many times, and never had any problem before.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

NOTE: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! You must make sure that you follow this exactly, if you delete the Wrong Keys in the Registry, your computer could be damaged.

The Only thing that you can do to fix this is to Delete your Persistence, for all of Hoster.

Here is what you need to do.

1) Left click the Start Menu. Click on Run.

2) Type in Regedit. Click Ok or Open.

3) Go to the very top of the Registry Editor, click the + beside My Computer. It you already see the keys below then you will not have the +. So you can skip to the next step.

4) Click the + Beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Click the + beside SOFTWARE, click the + beside Micro Technology Unlimited, now click the + beside Hoster. Now left click Default, it should now show as selected. NOTE: If you do this in the Wrong place you could Completely Mess your Computer up!

Only when Default is selected, press the Delete Key. Now Click Yes when it asks you if you are sure. Once this is done, click the X in the Top Right corner to close our of the Registry Editor.

Now Open Hoster, and it will be as if you started from scratch.

Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

I for one will NOT be doing as above. Having the names show on the TV screen is just not that important to me. I just thought if the feature was there, I'd like to see it set up and use it if I ever felt the need.

In any case, I use a dry erase board to list the singers as they sign up, and everyone checks that to see when they will sing.

I have been doing that for at least a year and a half and it has stopped a LOT of problems with people telling me I put someone up to sing ahead of them and out of turn.

I hope this was a typo, but, you are suppose to drag the Singers Name Display (SND) off the RIGHT-HAND side of your Laptop, in order to get the SND onto the Singer's Display.

Smile Re: 2.219 Singer Names Display Command

No, not a typo, I have been going to the left, as when my curser sometimes shows up on the TV, I have to drag the mouse from left to right, so I thought to put something on the TV, I would have to reverse that dragging motion.

I'll give the your new idea a try.
