Re: Version 2.219 a Godsend!

I like the fact you can eliminate the vocals now on a multiplex disc, and the pause button is a nice feature also.

However, I am not sure if the preview screen setting feature is working properly for me. I have the default location set, but when I start Hoster, I get two screens. I have to put the extra screen over the other that is in the default location, and make it smaller so as to have only one screen.

It seems that if default is set, then I should be seeing only the one screen as it was before.

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

Are you sure you aren't seeing the Singers Display also, set to a small window size? Please check this, as I'm sure this is the answer.

The Preview Display on the Playlist screen, and the Singers Display show the identical images.

I'd suggest you first set the Preview Display to the "Default" setting so it is not a moveable window. Then, you can easily see which Display is which.

If you have a dual-display card, the make sure it is setup properly (not in clone mode) and click-drag the Singers Display window over to the Display #2, and drop it there.

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

As you can see in the post I just made before I saw this answer, I had a problem at my show tonight, and I think it is related to this answer you just gave me.

Normally when I start Hoster, I only see the preview screen in the upper left corner. One could move it and expand it if one one wanted too.

After installing the upgrade, I saw two screens. The little one mentioned above, and a bigger one to one side, which I guess is the singers screen, but I never saw that before, so I had no idea why I was seeing two pictures.

I moved the larger screen over on top of the preview screen in the upper left.

I suspect that was what caused my problem tonight. But why am I seeing two screens on the laptop when I only saw one in the past, and what am I supposed to do with the extra screen. And why did restoring the computer fix everything.

I did not change anything on my duel display card, so why should there be anything different? I don't know if I even remember how I set it up a year ago, when I first bought Hoster.

And one more thing. I used to receive an email each time someone answered on of my posts and I have the forum set do to that, but I no longer receive these emails, so I have no way of knowing when my question gets answered. How do I fix that?

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

I thought I better give you more information so you can advise me on this problem.

At my show, when I started up the laptop, the Hoster desktop came up on the singer's TV display, and on the laptop. I then entered the Hoster program, and put a song in the playlist.

When I went to play the song, the desktop remained on the TV, put on my laptop, the preview screen, with the other screen on top of it, played the song normally.

After I restored the computer, the Hoster desktop came up as usual on TV and laptop, but when I entered Hoster program and played a song, all was well.

DLESSNAU

I'm not certain, but what you're describing may be the new addition of a new screen that admin mentioned. It picks up the names of the singers from your playlist and displays the next singer. This screen can be turned on and off by double clicking on the SND button located just to the right of the timer, can be made to share the screen with the singer's screen, or display between tracks.

If this is the case, suggest you spend some time in the manual.

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

Since I have been using Hoster for over and have done all the upgrades, I did not think I needed to review the manual, but I think you are right, I better start reading it.

I did not know of that feature you mentioned. It sounds like a good one.

But my problem is not that. It is just that on the singer's TV I see the Hoster desktop, but when I start up the Hoster program and play a song, nothing happens on the TV. The song lyrics play on the screen in the laptop screen but does not go over to the TV.

I will wait for administration to advise me I guess. I suspect I have to drag that screen with the lyrics around on my laptop until I see it on the TV. But I won't mess with that, until after my show tonight.

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

You should only have to click on it and drag it to the right to get it over to the T.V., size it, and double click to set it in place, just like you've been doing right along...strange, unless somehow it got in clone mode instead of extended desktop.

Are you seeing your shortcuts, tool bars, etc on the tv? If you're seeing just the wallpaper, and none of those, then you must be in Extended Desktop as it should be.

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

At one point when I was trying to fix the problem, I had the shortcuts showing on the TV and they were all over the place. But when I restarted under administrator rather than user, they went away.

I think I will try what you said about dragging the screen to the right until it shows up on the TV.

If that does not fix it, I can always use Windows XP restore again to go back to when it was working.

I wonder why I never had this problem when I upgraded before?

In any case, thanks, and I'll let you know what happens with the fix.

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

I have a distinct feeling you are in CLONE mode and not EXTENDED DESKTOP since you did see shortcuts, etc on the tv..
I don't see where administrator access would have any bearing on that.

Have the tv hooked up and turned on

Right click anywhere on a blank spot on your desktop

Click on PROPERTIES

Click on SETTINGS

Click on Monitor #2 to highlight it

Check the box that reads EXTEND MY WINDOWS DESKTOP ONTO THIS MONITOR

Click APPLY, then OK.

You should now be in EXTENDED DESKTOP mode and be able to click and drag
the singer's window over to the TV, size it and double click to lock in place.

Hope this gets it.

George

Re: Issue with 2.219 and Preview Window

Problem Solved!

I reinstalled Hoster upgrade, turned on the TV and started Hoster.

I added a song to the playlist, and played it. I again saw two displays. One was the preview window, and now I know the other was the singer display, but it was not on the TV, only in a little window on the laptop.

I then dragged that window all over the place with no result.

Accidently, I double clicked that little window, and low and behold, it vanished and showed up on the TV, and all was fixed.

I guess the answer is "When in doubt, double click".

Thanks for all the help.

Reading the manual also is a good idea.
