Post Want to use Home Computer for Testing

Admin...I have read this somewhere, but can't find it at the moment. Is it correct that I can load my Hoster software on a second computer (not to be used for a show)?

I have 5 licenses. I paid for the upgrade on 1 to try it out & recently downloaded the latest upgrade, but, have not installed it. I would like to install this upgrade on my Home Computer instead of the Laptop I put the initial upgrade on. This would allow me to check out & learn the changes before I send KJs out to jobs with software I can't explain when something works differently. If this is possible, how do I do it? If not, I suppose I can buy a sixth license just for this computer, If I have to.

Re: Want to use Home Computer for Testing

I don't presume to speak for MTU but I thought you were allowed to install on a backup computer, however I couldn't find any mention of that in Hoster's product description on the website.
One idea, however might be to download the demo and use it. The demo's for the upgrades are generally just a few days behing the upgrade release.
Good luck.

Re: Want to use Home Computer for Testing

To anyone else pondering this same question, I found my answer under Frequently Asked Questions. I'm so used to the forum that I didn't look there.

Re: Want to use Home Computer for Testing

Here's what the Hoster manual says about the subject, "You are licensed to install Hoster on ONE (1) computer.

However, the security protection will allow installing on a second computer for backup or when you need to upgrade or replace your computer.

DO NOT use your backup computer to run a second show! This violates your License Agreement. When we find this (and we will), we require you to buy a second copy before we will provide support or allow you to download any free upgrades."

Re: Want to use Home Computer for Testing

hey bryan cox,

can i use the second computer to (only) import my cd-g's to my karaoke computer via a network ???

i have a computer in my office and wish to do all my importing there rather than sit in my restaurant and do it. i could just change the path for the .kma to my downstairs computer in my restaurant.

do you allow this ??
