Need some help with dual displays
I completely reinstalled windows xp home edition and solved most of the problems I was having with Hoster. Namely the database files and importing songs. Now, I have just one problem remaining. When playing with dual monitors (Labtop and TV Screen), I only get the small picture box in the upper left corner of hoster, I don't get the secobd window on the comuter screen. I used to get this but not now. The picture is fine on the TV screeen and in the small box on the hoster program. I have tried doubling clicking, restarting with tv on, rebooting, Still the same old problem. I have The Nvidia GeForceFXGo5600 with version 6.14.10.5401 drivers. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Thank you Bob |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Actually this is how it is designed, on the laptop, you get the control window (along with the small display in the upper left corner) and on the TV, or second monitor, you get the "singer's window" (a full-size screen displaying the karaoke information). It is done this way so you can continue to work, add songs, search etc. while a singer is singing... Alternatively you can switch your monitors to "clone" mode, and it will display the same thing on both monitors, however, when doing this your singers and/or audience will see the control window between songs, and you will not be able to work while a song is playing...
If this is not what you meant, post back, perhaps something is not working the way it should, but as you described it, it seems to be working properly. Hope it helps, Flip |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Who build your FX5600? MSI, ASUS...
I would suggest you download the latest driver from the manufacture's site & not Nvidia, in my case, my MSI FX-5600 works better with the driver coming from MSI versus the Nvidia site. Regards |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Ditto on what Flip said, and I'll add the only time I see a large screen on the pc as well as the small screen is when there is no second monitor or tv hooked up or turned on.

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Thank you Flipeokee for your response. The first time I installed Hoster and ran the program, I got the control screen with the display in the upper left corner on the laptop along with a scond window which could be collaps by double clicking. This window showed what was being displayed on the second monitor, so I had the control window and a second window on the laptop and a display on the tv monitor. When the song ended, the monitor showed my desktop theme. Now, I only get the control screen with the display in the upper left corner, no second floating windon and when the song ends the tv monitor shows a black screen not my desk top theme. So if I understood what your said, my system is working correctly. So I'm not supposed to have a second floating window on the lap top?
Thanks again for your responses, Bob |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
I just started to play around with the new upgrade of Hoster 2.213.
That little window you see in the upper left hand corner is resizeable. Just put your mouse over any corner and a double ended arrow will show. Or you can actually have two windows of the play screen. Just put your mouse over the small screen and hold down the mose button and move it. I also found out that if you are in the full screen while a song is playing, and double clicked out before the song ends. You will have to double click to get back to it when you play the next song. The only way to get it to work right from then on, is to close Hoster and open it again. Switching from play to import mode and back won't reset it. Now, could that movable window be the window that resizes to full screen when a song is played??? |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
The little wndow in the upper left hand corner is the KJ's viewing screen and is NOT re-sizeable.
The re-sizable one is the singer's screen. It may be appering over the KJ's screen, but can be moved, re-sized, or drug off the screen to the right. Once you have another monitor, or tv hooked up and are in proper "Extended Desktop" mode, it can be locked into place and will remain there until you disconnect the remote tv or monitor, at which time it will show up again on the main p.c. monitor. Hope this helps, George |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
George is right. Only thing I can add is when you double click the playing Singer's Display, if it is in full screen mode, it will shrink to a resizeable, moveable window. You can resize it to whatever you want. Some users reduce it to cover the top or bottom half of the display, with an advertisement above or below it. When the song stops playing, the Singer's Display will disappear until the next song starts playing.

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Well it appears I should have two windows present on my Labtop. One in the uper left corner and one resizeable one which is free floating. Well, that is what my problem is. I don't have the second resizeable window. I do get the display on the tv monitor but not on the labtop. I just have the little one up in the left corner of the program window.
I need some help resolving this issue. I have tried rebooting with the tv on but that does not help. Thanks, Bob |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
There is only one re-sizable window, so it sounds like everything is as it should be, a small fixed window for the KJ and the remote re-sizable display for the singer, which you say is working..

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Maybe, just maybe the resizable window is fully minimized. Mouse over each corner of the small window you see look for a double ended arrow.and pull the window open. Or look for a tiny square somewhere in that view for one
By the way I tried minimizing the window as small as I can get it. It is very hard to grab again, or even see if you didn't know where it was. |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Your not getting it, I only have the small upper left corner window. The tv monitor displays the song correctly, but no second window on PC. If I turn off "extend desktop to second monitor" I get the second window on PC but nothing to the TV.
Thanks again Bob |

Re: Need some help with dual displays
Can't put it any plainer. There is no second window on the pc. when you have a remote tv/monitor hooked up, only when there is no remote tv/monitor. Everything you describe is exactly as it should be.

Maybe I can shed some light on this problem
First, in versions 2.212 and prior, the Singers Display window would ALWAYS still be visible after thd song stopped playing. You could resize it to be very small. In version 2.213, we made a significant change, documented as feature #4 on this web page, and in the 2.213 Manual under Playing a Show > The Singers Display.
The Hoster control screen ALWAYS had a fixed Preview window that shows you what the Singers see in their window. SINGLE DISPLAY MODE: If you did not have a dual-display OR did not have it set up correctly in Extended Mode, then the Singers Display window would ALWAYS appear on the single display along with the Hoster screen. When a song starts playing it will force the Singers Display window to go full screen. When the song stops playing, in 2.212 and prior versions, the Singers Display window reverted back to a resizeable window and users would shrink it down to get out of the way. In 2.213 it disappears completely to get it out of the way. DUAL DISPLAY MODE: If you do have a Dual-Display and it is set up correctly in Extended Mode, after you have moved the Display #2 to the second (TV) monitor, then the Singers Display window always appears over there. When a song starts playing it will force the Singers Display window to go full screen ON MONITOR #2. When the song stops playing, in 2.212 and prior versions, it reverted back to a resizeable window ON MONITOR #2, and users would shrink it down to get it out of the way. In 2.213 it disappears completely to get it out of the way. |
