problem at beginning of songs
Hi, Some of our songs when we play them right at the beginning makes a skipping sound when they start. We thought it might have needed the windows update or the computer needed to be defrag, so we tried both and we are still getting the same problem. It is more like a hesitation, kind of like the computer is bogged down but the song sounds like it is skipping and its not. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?
Thanks, Shelley |

What version are you running?
The latest version is 2.209. We made a lot of changes that affect audio playback.
There are some very important modifications you should make to your Windows. Click here to read the changes. |

Please Post this information to this forum post.
1) Click the Start Menu and the Run command 2) Type in dxdiag and click the OK Button. This will run the DirectX Diagnostic program that automatically gathers information about your computer setup. 3) Once the information collection ends, click the Save all Information button at the bottom of the Dxdiag window. 4) A dialog box will appear that allows you to select where to save the file to any location that you would like to store the file. 5) Change the filename to dxdiag from Yourfirst Lastname (example: dxdiag from Joe Smith) Once you have the File on your computer. Come to this post and click Click to Answer. Once it opens so that you can type a new post in, click the Browse button at the bottom. This will be to the Right of Attach File. Go and Find the file that you just created above. Once you have the file selected, click Open. It will then attach it to this post when you click the Submit Reply button.

nope, this doesn't seem to help. Maybe I can shed some more light. This is a very recent problem, it seems to of started when I downloaded the free update? Also, this doesn't happen everytime. If I stop the song, and start it back over again, it seems to clear up. Does this help?

You need to describe the problem, What exactly is it doing?

Well, I believe we are narrowing this problem down. When I turn on my computer, the welcome screen burps with the same audio glitch I hear only in the very beginning of SOME songs. When I go online, the "You've got mail" has the same, and also when I shut down. Could I need a better sound card? It is not a skip, yet sounds close to the same.
This is a large problem, as guests at my karaoke show are noticing this, and it's embarrasing!! I've tried all the post's advise, and it seems to of gotten worse with the upgrade before 2.209. I live in the boonies, and sometimes get bumped, so I have used up my downloads, and still don't have the new version which says it fixes alot of the audio trouble. Someone is supposed to get back to me on fixing that, but haven't heard anything yet. I thank you all for your help, your assistance is superb!! |

first, go to control panel, and disable all system sounds, you dont want to hear them during a show.
then go to start.....run.... ytpe dxdiag..... and in the video tab disable direct draw. right click on the screen, and click properties....screen saver.... power..... and pick never for all the options. pick the appearance tab......click effects......turn off fade effects and smooth font edges. lastly, control panel........system properties......advanced.....performance...... settings..... adjust for best performance.......then click advanced.......virtual memory.......change....custom size.....set minimum, and maximum at 512.....as a custom setting. apply apply save, reboot, and see what happens.... let me know. |

the newest version has no audio drops at all. if after you get the latest version installed, then have the same problem. Private mail me with your Phone number if you are in the us, and I will call you and walk you through it.

Sherri,
Your Update Link is working. I just tested it. If you get that you have used up all your Downloads, this is because you MUST use Internet Explorer to download it. You can't use AOL to download the file from or you will get this. To do this, click the Blue e (Internet Explorer) while you are connected to the Internet, then type in your Personal Download Link. Make sure that you type it identical to what it is, letters must be in upper and lower case for the ones that are Capital. If not you will get the same error over and over.

ok, we got the update!! It still didn't stop the audio dropouts though, so I believe it is a puter problem, not hoster. The program is awesome, but not as awesome as the techs who help others in this forum!!
