![]() Question for the more experienced among us.
![]() When playing a show, (Auto Play), the video size expands to consume both halves of the extended desktop between each song. I have to double-click it to reduce the singer display back down to it’s own half, literally between every song. The previous version did that only when starting the first song or re-starting after a stop. After upgrading, it now does this all the time. I think I read where this was done to circumvent the video problem that occurred when playing "less than pristine" Karaoke tracks. While I agree that having to restart Hoster on those occasions where this happened was a bit annoying, I am not convenced that the attempt to alleviate the problem is any better than the original problem. On the other hand, I might also have missed something in the instructions. (But, I read them, word for word, three times over). Comments? BTW, I have Hoster 2.127 and the Radon All-In-Wonder 7500 video card. Much thanks! ![]()

Hmmm.....?
Can I take the lack of a responce to mean that the indicated behavior is as it was intended to be?

ATI Radeon 7500 is supported. It's the first card that MTU recommended for Hoster.

Much thanks to mikedombroski And George for the replies.
George, Based upon your answer, I suspect that the indicated behavior is really not what was intended. Yet, I have read the manual's end-to-end three times over and the sections on installing and using the dual display video even more times than that. The behavior persists. Can you, by chance, assist in identifying where I might have gone wrong? Much thanks! ![]()

You drag it to the extended desktop then double click to lock it into full screen and it remains persistant, filling the screen when a track is or is not playing. Why do you want to reduce it between songs? Sounds like it's acting normal. I may be wrong, but I don't see the problem, that's why I stayed out of that part of it when I responded regarding the 7500. George |

Hmmm... Perhaps I misspoke. (Easy to do when talking about computers).
![]() What I ment to say was that it fills my display with the top half of what should be on the singers display and the other half fills the singers display. I have to double click at the start of every song to reduce it down so that my display no longer displays the top half of what should be on the singers display and so that the singers display shows what it is expected to display. Hmm....... Clear as mud?

Now I go it, but sure don't have a clue as to what may be causing it.
If you haven't already done so, you might want to go to the ATI website and download any recent drivers for that card. Other than that, I'm blank..sorry. George |

It almost sounds like you are running dual displays (clone)rather than extending the desktop to the second screen.
Keep in mind, you should have both displays set to the same settings, ie: 1024x768, or 600x 800....... also make sure you have all the latest windows updates, & direct x 9.0b. actually come to think of it does the 7500 support direct direct x 9.0b? |

I'm using the 7500 and am running DirectX 9.0b.
bdayton, what are you initially seeing on the tv ? If you're seeing shortcuts, toolbars, etc, you're in CLONE mode for sure, and not EXTENDED DESKTOP.You should only see the wallpaper in extended desktop. George |

Thanks, Gary.
bdayton, save yourself a lot of manual hunting and try this: 1- Have your remote tv hooked up and turned on. 2-Right click on any open spot on your desktop. 3-Click Properties. 4-Click Settings. 5-Click on Monitor Number 2. 6-Check the box Extend My Windows Desktop Onto This Monitor. 7-Check Apply. 8-Reboot the pc. You should now see nothing but your background wallpaper on the remote tv, no shortcuts, toolbars, etc. Hope this overrides whatever else happened, and gets it. George |

Hmmm.... Okay, I rebooted and have the two displays going. The desktop display shows the usual windows icons and such. The second display, (On the TV), is the same color as the desktop display but has no icons. I could drag an icon down there if I wanted. This shows that I am in extended desktop mode and not clone mode.
I open the display properties dialog and see the following tabs: Background, Screen Saver, Appearance, Web, Effects and Settings. It shows a picure of a monitor and a list of files containing possible wallpapers. (I have it set to "None"). I see nothing showing "Monitor 1" or "Monitor 2". I saw something about this in the docs but thought it might be just because I might have hade the latest software that somehow, didn't need it or something. I would hate to think that something went wrong with the installation of the video card, and I just didn't know enough to realise it. :( Please tell me if this is a clue to the problem...... P.S. How can I verify my Direct-x version?

The Settings tab should show two monitors.
To check Dxdiag, click Start, Run, and type in DXDIAG,and click OK. Somewhere near the bottom of the first page that pops up it tells you which version of Dxdiag you have installed. If it is less than 9.0b, go to Http://www.microsoft.com and download the latest version for your operating system. George Last edited by George; June 4th, 2004 at 11:40 AM. |

Okay!, Looks like we may be on to something.... My direct-x version is 9.0b but, I do see only one monitor in the display settings. I am re-reading the video card installation instructions again to see what I might have missed.
Thanx much! I'll let you know!

Looks like this is gonna take some time to resolve. :( I have even gone as far as uninstall and reinstall all the drivers and what-not but it still refuses to show me two monitors on the "Display Properties" screen.
Looks like I'll have to drag the folks from ATI in on this one. But U can live with it for now. (Besides, I just saw where I go another new version of Hoster to snag. ![]() Much thanks for the assistance.
