Errors reading tracks, but no sign of them until playing tracks
I've imported about 200 CD's and just noticed that on a few tracks, most specifically ones that take a LONG time to import, the video (and sometimes the audio) does not record well at all.
How is one to know if a song/video imports error-free, if no errors come up on the import? My concern is that if I don't sit and watch every CD import (and I can't), that in the middle of a show, I'll have a REALLY messed up song. What settings can I change to help fix this, or make Hoster let me know if it's having trouble reading a CD? Thanks |

Sounds to me like you either:
A: Are using a burner that doesn't fully support CDGs B: Are using damaged (dirty, scratched etc...) media. If you are using a plextor drive, keep in mind even plextor can have defective drives that don't fully support CDG. (Which is why it is reccomended you purchase a tested drive from MTU) If you look at your discs and see they are dirty, scratched or otherwise damaged, try cleaning the disc and make a copy of the disc using Microstudio. Many times the copies will import cleaner than the originals... The worse shape the discs are in the longer it usually takes to import them. If you notice a track taking an excessively long time to import, play it and see if is working properly. Even if the disc looks clean/not scratched, poor quality media (which some manufacturers use) can also cause these problems. So I would say try copying it and see if it helps... All I can think of at the moment...hope it helps, Flip |

I'm using an MTU Plextor drive. The CDG's (and I'm going to double-check today) all have worked fine in my player for months and months now... They may be a little scratched, but I take pretty good care of them, and keep them in a protective soft CD case all the time.
I'll try cleaning the disc(s) in question... the big concern is that I don't know for sure WHAT disc(s) are in question, because they (except for the last track problem, and I've noted all that have that issue) all imported with no errors, but I just happened to notice one or two that took a LONG time, and checked the song... found out it was not imported good. I'll check the song(s) on my player, and see if it's OK there, then try cleaning and copying the disc with Microstudio. Thanks |

The reason they take a long time to read is because hoster tries to read even damaged, or unreadable disks. it will go through, and if it cant read a track at say 40x it will slow down till it can. some disks are so bad, they slow down to 1 x to read in.
after you look at the disk for scratches, and fingerprints (fingerprints are a killer). Hold the disk up to the light, and see if you can see any pinholes of light through the label. this will also make it unreadable. avoid network access, and using the computer for doing other things while importing. this will also cause errors when importing. If you are not on the internet, disable your antivirus while importing. just a few thoughts........ |

OK, thanks. I have not been doing anything while importing, but I have not disabled my AV, and my internet connection is active, although unused at the time (wireless-high speed). I'll disable that while importing too. I'll check CD for pinholes, etc, and try cleaning it/them.
