Over copying tracks or disk

Is there anyway to overcopy a track or disk that is bad? I get the message that indicates the book id is already used and there does not appear to be a way of re-importing tracks or whole disk. There doesn't appear to be a way to delete a book# so cannot just start with a new book#. Thanks for any help.

Editing the songs.mdb in access is not a good idea. Admin had repeated this numerous times.

Delete the tracks that are bad.
delete the songs.mdb
rebuild song database.
reimport the bad track, or tracks by checking it.

Overcopying

Thanks guys. I am ok with Access but the MTU version is older and requires conversion. This can lead to the problems MTU might have mentioned. The delete track and rebuild seems to be the way to go but don't know how to delete. There was a thread re a hot key that does this but haven't found it again. If you have the delete track procedure, I would appreciate hearing it. Regards!

Are you trying to re-inport the same dic again with a good copy? If so, you can do that and not have to edit anything.

lmcmains,
sometimes this doesnt work, and you have to do it the way I described.

the hot hey is for removing a track from a playlist .

to remove the track, you have to go to the directory where the .kma karaoke songtracks are located. locate the track you want to reimport, select it, and delete it.

Hummm...

In the Hoster manual topic Importing Tracks Again in the Table of Contents under Import Tracks Tab is the "Factory suggested way" for anyone to replace a bad imported track, using the same BookID.

In a past release of Hoster, we had a bug that did not properly update the Songs Database. This was a problem, and some of our beta testers posting here may be "programmed" due to the old bug.

Now, if the Manual is wrong, I sure would like to know it so I can get the software fixed to work the way the Manual says!!!

Lawrence, you are right. We use Access 97 because the "Jet Engine" that we can distribute is only about 7MB in size. However, the Access 2000 "Jet Engine" is around 50MB. That makes downloading it impossible! Try the manual way and see if it works.

Unhappy Reimporting tracks

I havn't had any problems reimporting any bad tracks. Any time I have done it, it has worked ok. I am still using 2.014. I have the new verson but havn't had time to install it yet.

The only thing I can't seem to do is delete a song or a disc. It never seems to work for me. Maybe someone can go through it from the start with me.

INCMANS,
The method I described is for the 2.014 version. I noticed that was the version you were using.

On the updated hoster, it automaticaly deletes the songs.mdb file before it rebuilds the database. But I have found that initially (the first time) you do this after you have updated you have to delete the songs.mdb before you try to re-import. and do a rebuild database. or it will give the error you mentioned.

You really need to do the update. it is a much improved product.
