Windows xp not starting

I read the forum with the trouble with xp re-booting. I cant tell if my problem is the same. if I my computer is off for more than a day, Windows will not start. Then I get a blue screen telling me "driver more or less equal" and there was some kind of error. I have to unplug my computer and plug it back in so windows will start. Then I get a black screen telling me that something is wrong with the installing of a software program or hardware. All of this started with plextor usb burner and micro-studio 2.315. Before I start dowloading all kinds of drivers, I wanted to make sure the driver was the problem.

I already have a DVD/CD burner installed in my computer. I was wondering if there was an incompatibility problem with trying to have two burners and two different burning programs(mtu program and the one that came with my computer). The micro-studio program has been burning cd+gs fine. But, this constant problem of not having windows start-up is annoying and I think it is creating problems with other programs.

Sounds like a driver conflict. You might try uninstalling Microstudio 2.315. Then see if you can do a restore, choosing a date when you knew everything was working. Then try re-installing Microstudio , and see if the situation clears up.

FMMMMM,

It would be better if you posted the exact messages you are getting.

Those weird messages with crazy numbers have certain meanings.

If you post the exact error messages, we might able to help you better.

Regards,

Jon

Fmmm,
Jaddams is correct we will need the entire message. This problem to me sounds like that you have an issue with the actual Operating system though. As none of our programs will keep the system from booting. Especially when you are saying if the system is off for a day or two, this will happen that sounds to me as you have more of a problem with the system than you think.

windows wont start

This is depressing. My computer is only 4 months old and it
sounds like I am problems with the operating system. I did a
check on the freedom program to make sure it is operating
properly and not the problem(everything is okay).

I started my computer after turning it off for a week and xp
started fine. As soon as I get this error message again I will
post it.

xp in not a "cd burning friendly" operating system.
auto-notification interrupts the burning process and then shows a driver error message. I was wondering if this error was part
of the problem. Thank you

FMMMMM,

I don’t think auto-notification is your problem.

In Windows XP auto-notification doesn’t affect the disk burning process one way or another. Sometimes problems disappear, magically, after a simple reboot.

Since you had your system off for a week and now is working fine, you may not see that error message again.

Let’s hope that’s the case.

Cheers!

Jon

P.S. By the way, Windows XP is very “CD-burning friendly.

I agree with Jaddams about Windows XP being very burning friendly. This is the best OS to use for Burning any types of discs.

Windows 2000 is also very good and stable, it is just a little less user friendly than XP.

Dunno about that. Have been using 98SE since 98 and have yet to have a burner problem. Also have XP on anothr P.C. and have no problems there either, but can't say it's any better than 98SE.

I used the recovery program to go back to a earlier date and
re-installed the plextor burner. Also, I deleted any extra drivers
that I downloaded from the MTU web-site. So far I have not
had any more problems, but I have not burned any cd+g's.
I will soon to see if the problem starts again.

As, far as auto-notification goes, I am not the only one with the
problem. Another DJ that is a friend of mine has windows xp
home addition and he has the same problem. If you do not wait
for the "what do you want windows to do with the cd"
notification and it shows up during the burning process, it
will shut the burning process down and show a driver error. Just about type of up-date or notification will end the burning process
and ruin a blank cd.

"what do you want windows to do with the cd"

This message does not pop up if burning through Microstudio, and does not interfere with the process. At least it never has with my XP Home or 98SE.

Now when working through Windows, selecting several songs from the songlist, and sending direct to burner, thats a different story.
