Question making a CDG using a split trax CD

i am sorry if i am asking a ? that's been asked b4, but i have been looking for something like this in several threads all morning and can't find anything so wondering if anyone has run into this prob.

ok...here it is:
i bought a regular CD that i love and then discovered a few years later that i could buy the entire CD split trax of the same.

i listened to it first on a regular CD player and indeed all i heard was the inst. trax, so i used microstudio, imported the trax as wavs and wrote to Kpro and (thankfully b4 doing another) (have made several of my own so am very familiar with the software and love it, thank you very much!!!) decided to burn to be sure it worked. to my surprise when it played on my CDG player the vocals were there, so i thought, hmm, multiplex? so i used the multiplex function on the player and still i had vocals?
anyone else ever run into a prob like this and if so, couldya' tell me what to do.
i also tried vogone........no dice!!! vocal shows up there and will not begone!!!
anyone?

hopeful in the heat of summer!!!

What exactly do you mean by "split trax" ? Are these karaoke discs? I know there are pleanty of karaoke discs that have two tracks for each song, first set say 1-8 are w/ vocals, and second set tracks 9-16 are w/o vocal, some manufacturers do it opposite 1-8 w/o 9-16 with... If this is what you mean be sure you are importing the correct set. If this is not what you mean, please clarify, maybe give us the disc name and # maybe someone can come up with an answer.

split trax

Flip.....1st thx.

these are not karaoke. i am trying to make karaoke.
what i have exactly is:
Shout To The Lord 2000
with hillsong music australia
full album split trax

i bought the original CD in 2000 and when i saw i could get the instrumental tracks all on a cd exactly as on the 1st, i knew (or thought i did) that i could make it into karaoke for myself.

so, i did what i said b4, listened to cd and was satisfied it had no vocals, however when i imported the file into KPro to "write" it to karaoke, it had vocals. i made it anyway, thinking it somehow had a hidden multiplex function and then burned it to check.

when i play it.........looks good, all that is perfect......however there are the vocals, so i thought i would try the multiplex function on CDG player. no dice. next i switched channels back and forth on the speakers. no dice.

i am completely baffled, so decided to try to get help.
this site will take you to the site where i bought it so you can see it.
patting myself on the back for being soooo clever
http://www.worshipmusic.com/14249.html
here's another interesting fact...when i open the CD to explore i see they are winamp files. in winamp they play without vocals. in real player the vocals are heard on one speaker and inst on the other, so you could see that it sounds like a multiplex kinda thing, i think!!!!!!.......now i just don't understand.
hope this splains something and someone can help.
thx

HOW TO CONVERT A MULTI-PLEX CDG (MULTI-PLEX HAS LEFT CHANNEL MUSIC AND RIGHT CHANNEL MUSIC AND VOCAL)
TO A CD+G WITH NO VOCAL AS MANY KJ'S MAY NOT HAVE A KARAOKE MACHINE THAT CAN MUTE THE RIGHT CHANNEL,
IF YOU TAKE THE DISC OUT TO A VENUE TO SING THE SONGS FROM THE DISC.

1. USING MICROSTUDIO, EXTRACT THE WAVE FILE

****************************************************

2. IMPORT THE WAVE FILE INTO A PROGRAM LIKE COOL EDIT PRO
3. IN COOL EDIT PRO YOU WILL SEE A LEFT AND RIGHT CHANNEL, THE RIGHT CHANNEL HAS THE MUSIC AND VOCAL, LEFT CHANNEL WILL NORMALLY JUST HAVE THE MUSIC.
4. YOU WANT TO "CUT" THE RIGHT CHANNEL.
5. NEXT YOU WANT TO COPY THE LEFT CHANNEL AND PASTE TO THE RIGHT CHANNEL.
6. YOU NOW HAVE BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT CHANNELS WITH JUST MUSIC.
7. IF YOU WISH YOU COULD TAKE THE RIGHT CHANNEL AND ADD A LITTLE "RE-VERB" JUST TO MAKE IT A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LEFT CHANNEL, YOU WILL HAVE A MORE STEREO EFFECT AND NOT ALL MONO.
8. SAVE THE NEWELY CREATED WAVE FILE (THAT IS STRICKLY MUSIC).

***************************************************

9. TYPE YOUR LYRICS IN NOTEPAD
10. IMPORT THE LYRICS AND WAVE FILE IN KARAOKE HOME PRODUCER OR KARAOKE PRODUCER.
11. MAKE YOUR SONG.
12. THAT'S IT.

FORGOT TO MENTION......

1. AFTER YOU EXTRACT WAVE FILE, IMPORT INTO COOL EDIT PRO, CUT RIGHT CHANNEL, COPY AND PASTE LEFT CHANNEL TO RIGHT CHANNEL. AND SAVE.
2. USING "CUSTOM ASSEMBLY" YOU CAN MIX THE NEW WAVE BACK WITH THE GRAPHICS AND NOW YOU HAVE THE GRAPHICS AND INSTRUMENTAL WITHOUT THE VOCAL.
3. YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO RE-DO THE SONG IN KARAOKE HOME PRODUCER OR KARAOKE PRODUCER.

Hold On There Bubbalouey!!

I was confused by the fact that you heard only the instrumental while playing the song on your CD player.

Quote:

i listened to it first on a regular CD player and indeed all i heard was the inst. trax,

If you are satisfied with the notion that this initial listening was flawed some way (eg. your speakers were improperly balanced, etc.) then the recommendation of converting from l-r to l-l (or r-r) sounds perfectly right.

I was concerned that you might be experiencing something similar to DVD karaoke, where l-r (left channel-right channel) is not an issue. I do the l-r to l-l with a freebie program called Diamond Cut, which came with a dinosaur cdrw that I bought 5 or 6 years ago. I think Cool Edit costs slightly under an arm and a leg!

If your initial listening was not flawed, then you can still solve your problem by Recording what you hear into the computer as a wave file. Surprise, surprise Diamond Cut also lets me do that. I'm sure you can find some freebie program that will let you do this.

Not Bad-mouthing Cool Edit, which I'm sure is a Raaaaaad program. I would just hate to say that your only solution to this problem is an expensive program. Last time I investigated this program it was 2 to 3 hundred dollars. If it has changed to a $39.95 wonder than I apologize.

PS. "Hold on there Bubbalouey(sp?)" was a favorite saying of a cartoon character that I used to watch. I hope no offense was taken since none was intended.

Another audio editing program to use would be pro-tools. There is a free version, only 8 tracks available. It can be found at digidesign.com.
