![]() I've been using MTU suite of products for several months now and have not run across any significant problems - until.
I just upgraded my existing machine w/ an 80GB HD that has 8 MB buffer and my O/S from Win 98SE to Win 2000. After upgrading to Win 2000, I applied service packs 1 & 2. As a result of upgrading to Win 2000, I then had to upgrade my SIIG 64-Voice PCI audio card - it doesn't support Win 2000. I upgraded to a Sound Blaster PCI 512. Also, as a result of the O/S upgrade, I had to uninstall & re-install Microstudio, KHPro, & Vogone. My problem occurs in using Karaoke Home Producer. After I've 'tapped' in my song and play it back, sporatically, the sweep begins to move way ahead of where I placed them. It can happen anywhere in the song. Any ideas? Mark |

Mark,
One possibility is that during the upgrades your color resolution got changed from 16 bit, where it needs to be. Might check that out. George |

My resolution is currently at (and was before the upgrade) 32-bit & 1600x1200.

did you try 16 bit to see if it made any difference? That's what the manual calls for. Any other setting can cause sweep problems.

Hi George:
I was finally able to try what you suggested - still no luck. Any other ideas? Cordially, Mark |

Mark,
there is another possibility. On the lyrics page there is an "advance sweep" box. The default is supposed to be 0.2 sec. Perhaps this is not set right. If it is on 0.2 sec. then maybe it is not the right setting for your system. You might try backing off on this setting to get it in sync, especially if your margin of error is consistant. Hope this does it. I think I'd also leave it on 16bit to avert any other sweep problems that may be caused by another setting. Take care, George |

I've read the other posts about the '.20' second issue. However, the delay is not consistent. When the problem manifests itself, the song is playing along fine w/ the graphics changing color right on que. It could be anywhere in the song when the delay begins. And today, it actually went too fast so the color change occurred before when it should have. Today when I was able to get the song 'tapped' in and working correctly was right after I re-booted (warm boot).

Mark,
Sorry I wasn't any help. Got me up a tree. Will need support on this one. They probably thought like I did that setting to 16 bit color resolution was going to do it. I'd guess that's why they didn't intervene. Take care, George |

I even tried backing off on the hardware acceleration on the video card (ATI 7500) to the mid-way point, disabling DirectDraw & Direct3D accelerations. Doing that prevents KHPro from working at all.
Do you guys from support have any suggestions? I'm running out of ideas. Mark |

I've now also installed DirectX 8.1b - still no change to problem - sometimes too fast, sometimes too slow.

![]() At this point, KHPro is unusable. Is MTU support seeing my messages???

Mark,
As George stated, you must have the Resolution set to 16 bit or it won't work correctly. If you had it at 32 bit before you were just lucky for some reason. I would say maybe this Sound Blaster 512 that you have installed is causing some grief. Try slowing down the hardware acceleration on this card to see what will happen. Here is how to change the Hardware acceleration:
Let me know what this does.

![]() Backing off on the hardware acceleration (I went all the way back for the time being) appears to have done the trick (in the limited testing I've done so far). I will begin adjusting the acceleration upwards until I find the 'break' point.
Just a note: this appears to be a Windows 2000 only issue. Since I have the original drive that still has Windows 98 SE loaded on it w/ the drivers for the same video & sound cards that are loaded for the Windows 2000 drive. When I ran the same test under Windows 98 SE, I didn't see the problem. Thanks, Bryan Mark |

This seems to be something with some of the newer Sound Blaster internal PCI cards that cause grief under XP and 2000 for some reason. I am not sure what they changed in their drivers that would do this, but obviously something. Glad that seems to have fixed it.
