Total Blue screen

Three times, I have accidently hit a key or keys that have made the screen go totally blue. it has happened when lighting was dim and I was shutting down for the night..
First time it happened, I accidently got out of it without knowing what I DID. The second time, I uninstalled hoster and reinstalled it and it came up ok. This time, uninstalling and re-installing didn't do the trick.
I can shut the computer down and restart it, then restart Hoster and Hoster screen comes up all blue again
Does anyone know what I hit to make it go bad, or what I need to do to bring it back.
I am running win 7 with 8 gigs of ram. It is not a Hoster fault the best I can figure out. I think I am hitting some key or combination of keys and it immediately goes to blue screen.

Thanks Phil

Re: Total Blue screen

Are you talking about the blue screen that completely crashes the computer and when you try restating the computer get a screen asking if you want to start normal of go into safe mode ? If so there is something else wrong with your computer or you performed an illegal operation. One such thing that I have seen cause this is pulling the extended monitor connection out before the computer shuts down properly.

Or is it just Hoster that crashes or shows a blue screen ? In this case you would not see the warning screen next time you start up.

When come back can you state your Hoster version and Windows version ?

Also are you using extended monitor if so how do you connect it ?
Are you using an external USB drive ?

Re: Total Blue screen

Roy
thanks for the reply. I can't tell you much more about it because I don't really know. I am sure it is in the computer and not Hoster, but hoster will not start up. Hoster starts to come up ( I get the Hoster title screen) and then I get a total blue screen, even now with no monitor connected.
I am running Win 7 on a HP Paviion DV6 with a i7 core processor. It has 8 gb ram and 1 tb hard drive. I am sure I bumped on or more of the keys this past weekend when I was breaking things down to go home. I run extended monitor and I don't remember if I pulled it loose before I shut down or not. I know this has happened three times, twice on this computer and once on one I used to use. One time I was able to get it back with some key strokes but that was three or four years ago and I don't remember what I did. another time, I restored it by un-installing Hoster and re-installing it. This time that didn't work so I am going to move it over to another laptop until I can figure out what I did.
I will try to get more information Roy and I will let you know what I come up with..

Re: Total Blue screen

Roy,
I have fixed the problem, but I don't know yet why it happened. I did a restore on it to a previous time and that fixed it Funny thing is there was a restore point inserted Saturday afternoon at about 2:00 PM for windows upgrade. This thing shot craps about 11 pm that night. So I restored to just before the upgrade and all is good. It may have been something that didn't agree with it..

Thanks Roy

Re: Total Blue screen

One thing you could be seeing is Hoster displaying in full screen mode. Double clicking in the centre of the screen would then send it back to restore view.

Check this out, from the Tools Menu/Show display, in the middle section, do you have this blue colour selected for the "Bkgrnd Color"?
If so do you also have the radio buttons selected for Solid Color or visualization ?
If so that's what you are seeing when you start up is Hoster locked in full screen.

If you have either Image Or HTML Page radio buttons selected with a picture of your choice selected for background then it's not the above.

Re: Total Blue screen

There are no menu's. The blue covers the total screen with no buttons or anything else showing. Only way to get out of it is to push the windows button on the key board and this will take Hoster away, but it is still running in the back ground. I can do a "control, Alt, delete" and this would bring up "task manager" which would allow me to shut Hoster down.
Now I know how to fix it and that is with a "restore" to anytime before it happened. What I don't know is what I did to bring it on.

Bad thing now is that it is fixed and I can't experiment to find what caused it unless Maybe if I did another restore to a newer time, it would be back on it again.

Re: Total Blue screen

Roy, thank you, that is what I was doing.
I must have accidently double clicked it and put into full screen. I don't use this often, only for benefits for some poor soul and I don't stay competent with it. I have had Hoster for about 7 or 8 years but I need to use it more.
All is fixed now, If I can just remember next time...
