Need to Zip Files to Import Into Hoster

I just got 12k songs from CB, and the were delivered as 24k files (CDG file and MP3) that I now need to import into Hoster. I am assuming that I MUST zip them to import. I cannot seem to find a bulk zipping utility. I did find one at CNET and other download sites that works brilliantly BUT it is only a trial version, and when I tried to buy it, the site is no longer up. Can anyone recommend an easy to use, efficient free to low cost solution...or am I wrong to assume these need to be zipped to import? THANKS!

Re: Need to Zip Files to Import Into Hoster

I take it these are the 12k of songs on their hard drive.
You don't need to zip them up, if you have version 5.00 or later use the import songs/indexSong files, in the dialog select KMH type then MP3G, brows to folder when top window fills with tracks select top one then set define field order to (ignore- ignore - title - artist) hit batch button, that should just add a small header file to each track.
Or you could select KMA types and import that way but then you will use up as much hard drive space again as the original files.

Re: Need to Zip Files to Import Into Hoster

Roy is correct, as I have just loaded the 12000 CB Hardrive successfully, using the ( Ignore - Ignore - Title - Artist ) field order... and selecting a starting disc a thousand numbers higher than my current database (2000-2122 ), to show the CB selections, as well as to let me add discs in the future, to my lower configuration...

Chartbuster didn't do a very good job in naming artists on this drive, so be ready to proof-read and make corrections to Artist Names to have them entered correctly in your database, and book making program! Very Time Consuming!

Good Luck!

Rikki, when you say they made errors, do you mean in the spelling, etc, or that they actually label the files wrong so that you play the wrong song?

Re: Need to Zip Files to Import Into Hoster

Mostly it is the ARTISTS first name, last name order that wasn't consistent with BAND NAMES and DUETS ie. (Brown, Zack Band or Brown Band, Zack instead of Zack Brown Band) ( Johnny Carter & June Cash, or Cash & June Carter, Johnny instead of Cash, Johnny & June Carter ) . You will see once they are loaded in your database... also in the multiple indexing, the GENRE will have to be relisted, Mine stated UNKNOWN since I didn't list a Genre when I indexed the multiple genres included in the 12000 song hardrive. So I have been adding Genre designation One At A Time! In my case, I remove all the punctuation marks in the Title, and that makes my search a little easier since I don't have to guess as to correct title's (titles) when searching by SONG TITLE, it's (its) easier now with the search methods using one word strings for Title or Artist searches. Lady GaGA (LADY Ga Ga) wouldn't (Wouldnt) be found in previous versions prior to Hoster 4.xx if not typed accurately, or if you had Lady Antebellum listed as Antebellum, Lady... or Didn't have the quote marks in Nat "King" Cole ( Cole, Nat King ), etc. Also the 12000 songs are put together using the order they were constructed in, when the hardrive was assembled... and when I bought the hardrive they included latest hits of 2011, as well as Hits Of The Month up to the time they went out of business, so some of the newer listings are listed as First Name - Last Name instead of Last Name, First Name ie. ( FRANK SINATRA instead of SINATRA, FRANK )... which should have been corrected prior to releasing the total library of their songs... but understanding now what litigation they were involved in, it's easier to condone their methods, because of the timeline and pressure that they were under to sell product at their ZERO Hour Prior to Closing Their Doors For Good! Timing wasn't on their side... no wonder they didn't reply to my concerns for future purchaser's of their final product!!!
