All New Database
We're getting the Gem next week and I want to redo my database from top to bottom. Is there a way that I can clear the slate on my Import CD Tracks and Import HD Files so old files don't appear?

Re: All New Database
Do you really want to remove all those files you imported from CD disc that will take a long time to re-import
![]() Unlike hard drive files that can be imported in minutes. Or do you just not want them to appear in your songbook ?

Re: All New Database
90% of what I'm putting in will be the CB6000 and the Gem. So yes I'm aware of whats in store...It's a long story as to why. The thing I'm wondering is if I clear out the songs file, how when I enter the add files screen can I reset the hide indexed tracks?...

Re: All New Database
There's various ways to start again.
You can either select to uninstal after starting the original Hoster5.06 setup.exe file. Then delete all your song files of the hard drive. Then reinstall, if the tick box for clearing all previous settings shows then tick it and install this should then be as a new installation. Another way, that will allow you to select what to remove is open the Tools/songs database then the build database, in the dialog that opens select all the folders in the list of folders that you want to remove and press the "Exclude Folders" button. This way you can either select all the folders or select which ones you want to remove. That should clear all the songs that you don't want from the database but to be sure I would use the rebuild database button, with no songs in the list of folders that should build an empty database or one with just the folders you left in the list. Then if you want to remove all evidence from the songs_backup.mdb either rebuild it again that will back it up the same as the Songs.mdb one, or delete it from the C:/MTU/Hoster folder. Then if you want to remove the original files from your hard Drive completely use windows explorer and delete the folders that way. If you decide to keep all your previous files and try to import them again especially your CD imported kma files after importing all these new files, you could run into trouble with duplicate book id's or disc id's. ![]() Also you will probably have to delete your singers.mdb as all the pointers would be wrong.

Quote:
As lonman has stated you can delete all or a selection of files using the Edit multiples dialog. If you choose to delete your KMA files this way it will completly remove them from your hard drive, which from your first post seems that's what you want. With your kmh files however it will only remove the small kmh file but leave your original mp3+g or zip file in place ready to be imported again. So if you wanted to remove all sign of these (Perhaps for An Audit) you would still have to use Windows explorer to delete the original file. Also after deleting them in the edit dialog the folders list in the build database dialog would still contain these folders so if any of the files remained in those folders and you pressed the re scan folders button at any time while a type was selected they would be re added to the database. Also in my post #4, if you did go down the route of uninstalling to completely start again I think you would have to delete your Hoster folder from the C./MTU folder after uninstalling or at least rename it to use as a backup before re-installing as I'm not sure if uninstalling removes this folder as that contains a lot of your present data. I would guess that with 6000 cb and 6000 SC you would be getting a great deal of repeats ![]()

Re: All New Database
Well there is a reson to my madness. So I can quickly identify brands I'm putting SC from 01-299, Spanish 300-499, All Star 500-599, CB 600-799, Audio files 8000-8999 and SGB, DG 900-999. I have a few LG which will also be in 300's and a few KBay that will be 400's. That way in my songbook I can let the singer know what brand of song it is without printing the brand of each song next to the song...I'm tring not to move all my files, but there's going to be alot. I have 257 SC CD's (6600 songs)landing on Tues then the fun begins. And yes there's goin to be around 2500 duplicate songs with SC and CB...Well it's no secret now Roy, my wife, then girlfriend bought a KJ system from a guy going out of business. We became aware that the CD's (185 total) we bought were illegal last September. So the mad dash was on to make things right. We bought the CB6000 in November and deleated all our SC. We survived not having them but we lost some singers...
