Singer Field On The Playlist

Is there a way to turn off the automatic filling in of the singers name on the playlist only. If so could someone please tell me how. If not, could this be made optional somehow in the future.

Thanks, Stu

I'm curious as to why you want this option, and how it would be used?

Re: Singer Field On The Playlist

There was a period of time that we had to fill in the field in ourselves. I was hoping that I could have the OPTION to do that again is all.

"I see"... said the blind man!

I misinterpreted your post... my bad!

I just edit that field on the fly, if the name is incorrectly placed, or needs to be truncated!

Re: Singer Field On The Playlist

If you leave the singer field blank when you add the song to the playlist, it will be blank on the playlist as well.

Re: Singer Field On The Playlist

Or you can just type in a name in the singer field. If something pops up, just hit the space bar a couple times ie if you just want Jim, but Jim Smith pops up, simply type Jim and hit space bar until Smith disappears & just Jim remains. Or just add a dot at the end of Jim ie Jim.

Stu, many users voted for this as it reduced the number of characters you need to type. MANY of our users don't touch type...

Re: Singer Field On The Playlist

Okay thanks. The problem for me is upper and lower case letters. One of my employees started this and now I have singers who expect to see their names that way.

So if you have a name in all caps STEPHANIE (in the singers database)and you type in the name Steve no matter what you do it comes out STEve. I do plan on laying down the law but I do not look forward to going out on the database and cleaning up all the names on all the laptops. Just trying to avoid all that work

Thanks again Stu

Re: Singer Field On The Playlist

Hit the Spacebar first to enter a blank then type Steve, you can either leave it that way or place the curser back on the first space using your mouse or the left arrow keys and delete it and it will still stay as Steve.

The following is only possible if all computers are identical with drive paths and songs lists.

Open the Singers database, select the singers tab and edit all the singers names using the rename button on one computer.
Once you have completed all names open your C:/MTU/Hoster folder and copy the singers.mdb file and paste it over the singers.mdb on the other computers.

Just to be on the safe side probably best to rename the exiting singers.mdb to something like singers2.mdb prior to pasting the one from your master computer in so that if something goes wrong you could always reverse it.
