Hoster 5.02 Computer screen words jumbled

Hi I have a dell 2400 desktop with P4 2.8 ghz with 1gb ram running windows xp with Hoster 5.02. When running a show the TV for the singers and audience is fine however on the main computer screen the words are jumbled and do not refresh properly on most songs. when there is an instrumental break in a song the 1st screen back with words is usually fine but after that start jumbling again. I have double checked to make sure all the things for xp were done so that it ran right. Also when I select a song from the search for a singer and hit the enter button or add the song name and singer name remain in the search box. I have three shows and this is the only one that does this. any help appreciated.

1 gB ram seems really too low to run Hoster, especially Hoster 5 version. Are your other shows' computers also 1 gB ram. I am one of the Hoster Beta Testers and remember testing several years ago with 1.0 and 1.5 Gb ram, and found I was reporting many errors that others with 2 gB weren't seeing. To continue testing properly, I had to increase the ram to 2 gB.

This is normal, they stay there until you click in that box to enter fresh search text or change the name, is this a problem ?

As to your jumbled letters could be as bryant wrote, also does your graphic card have it's own dedicated memory.
Also how much free space on your C/ drive as that is used when extra memory is needed.

The other two desktops have 1gb and 1.5gb respectively. the c drive is an 80gb and has 25.9gb free. the d drive is a 1.5tb with 916gb free. I checked on one of the other machines and you are correct the song name does not clear after hitting enter. I must be remembering an older version. but on the other machines once you click on the search box the song name or artist all goes blue and you can delete it or just hit any key and it disappears. this is not ocurring on the machine in question. I can highlight the song name or artist name and delete that way but it does not automatically highlight the box. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for the quick response. I am going to be upgrading the machines in the future but wanted to fix while am using.

I will have to have my son check on the video card question. not sure on it. I know that it did not use to have a problem. again thanks

Didn't have as many features added either in the older versions. Are these laptops or desktops?

Most off the shelf laptops these days should be enough to support Hoster without any mods - the cheaper ones MAY be the exception.

Maybe you have something else running in the background.
Try this, with Hoster running bring up the task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) click the processes tab. Now if you look at the CPU column most of the things are showing 00 or not more than 10 except system idle which is a total of free usage and usually around 90-99.
With your extended monitor connected start Hoster playing until your graphics start to get jumbled and look down the CPU column and see if anything other than Hoster is using higher than say 10, something may stick out to you that is unusually high, if so jot down the name of it and any other info related to it and report back your findings.

One other point that may help, have you defrag your C drive ? you should find this from Start/Programs/accessories/System Tools/defrag hard drive.
I should make sure if you start this that you don't need to use your computer for a couple of hours as it can take some time.

I have the same problem with the jumbled lyrics screen on the control panel. It's fine on the singer display, but doesn't refresh on the host panel- docked in the default position or undocked. Occasionally it works but most of the time it's unreadable. I have 4g ram and plenty of hard drive space and the problem began with the last version of Hoster 4 and continues now with 5. All other applications closed, virus protection is disabled, etc.

This is a dell 2400 desktop. I do normally have pcdj red 5.2 running in background for a dj break but unless i am adding songs or doing something with it does not use much in resources. I have always had it up running in background. This computer has not had any problem until i went to 4.32 and now with the 5.xx version of hoster. the other desktops are running the same video cards and have no problems. That is why i thought it was unusual. I know this an older computer and will eventually b updating because with the new programs it does slow down the song searches noticeably.

Would you both post a report in the following link. That way all problems with 5.02 are in the same locations, so Admin can look at them and schedule for testing.

If you are running PJCJ and Hoster, even if PCDJ is not running it is consuming RAM, and with 1GB, I expect you don't have enough for both.

Close PCDJ and see if Hoster runs as expected.
