Audio Files Missing in Search View

This is a first for me. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this:

While running Hoster V3.321 I click audio. I don't need to select a file as it remembers where to go to find the DJ music. It has ALWAYS come up in alpha order so I could scan the list or type in a particular artist or song. However, Friday the list opened as usual but it was in reverse alpha order...yes Z to A. I was dazed, closed search and reopened. This time, and again today, when the list came up it was missing all of the numerical artists like 2-Pac, 2 Unlimited, 3 Doors Down etc. The list starts with 1 song by 10,000 Maniacs then jumps to the B's. But if I search 2-Pac only all of their songs come up just fine. When I look at the same list in Explorer it appears just as it should with all of the artists in a/z order. Weird or What?

I am at loss as to what to tweek, change or deletel. My first thought is to delect the entire file and recopy from my master. Do you agree that is best first step? Been using Hoster 8 or 10 years and never saw anything like this before.

There is one other thing that I just noticed. Which I went to HELP to confirm my Hoster version the entire box opens but the tan part that shows the Hoster name and version number are smaller and you can't read past 3 so I had to check my backup system. I checked the screen resolution and it has not changed from originally specified settings.

So if anyone has experienced this or has a suggestion I would sure like to hear it. Thanks all and Happy Days!

PS: When just doing karaoke everything works perfectly!

Re: Audio Files Missing in Search View

Sounds like you probably just bumped (clicked) the sort order. When you click audio, it will bring up the screen, click on the name (filename?) tab (bar right above your first file), this will re-sort the files alphabetically.

Re: Audio Files Missing in Search View

Nope, that wasn't it. It does not matter what sort order I select all artists starting with numbers or letter A are NOT showing, with the exception of 10,000 Maniacs.

Guess I will start by removing all from the hard drive and reloading from my back up to see if that does anythng.

Thanks for writing. Happy Days!!

Can't think of why it should happen but could they somehow have been set to hidden. In the Folder/options/view tab, highlight the show hidden files and folders button then OK. See if they show up then. If not go back to the options and reset it to how it was.
If they do show, right click on one of the files select properties and see if the hidden box is ticked or if they are all in a particular folder that could be marked as hidden

Re: Audio Files Missing in Search View

Thanks Roy and Lonman.

Here is what I finally did:
Made a new folder, copied all the DJ music to it.
Deleted the old folder.
Opened Hoster, clicked audio and pointed to the new folder.
Wha La. All the music comes up just like it always did before last Friday.

Why? We will never know, will we? After it is a computer and like our kids they act up all the time for no darn reason.

But at least the problem is solved and if happens to anyone else they will know what corrective measure to take.

Thanks again and Happy Days!

Re: Audio Files Missing in Search View

Thnak you for posting your "fix".

The MS Access database we use can get "farkled" and do stuff it shouldn't. It sounds like this is what you experienced.

Deleting the prior audio folder, and re-introducing the new one could "wake up" Access.

Also, I would suggest in the future FIRST doing a "Rebuild Songs Database". This keeps your BookID's in your KMH and KMA files, starting from scratch. That too should have corrected this wrong behavior.
