lost files on hard drive
Again, this time i need help. All my karaoke songs are on my iomega external hard drive. I did not use it for a week. When i went to pull up a song in search, it said cannot find on hard drive. None of my songs would come up. I can pull them up on my external, but can't pull them up in hoster. Any suggestions? DJdiscdaddy in denver

Re: lost files on hard drive
Sounds like your volume letter has changed.
If you know what letter was originally assigned to your external you can see if it has changed from Start/ Computer. If the drive letter has changed follow these instructions to change it back. Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/ Then look for Storage or Disk Management. Look for your external drive Right click from the window that opens choose "Change Drive Letter" on the next window change it to the volume letter that you originally had it set to. press OK.

Re: lost files on hard drive
To add to what Roy said, if you look in Hoster at the Rebuild Database list or if you have the new version look under Import Songs/ Build Database and check the list. That will tell what the drive letter was, so you can change it back.

Re: lost files on hard drive
I went thru all that and changed the letter to f not knowing how to find the original letter, then I saw your reply, and it has the new letter, not the old. How do i find out now?

Re: lost files on hard drive
From the Tools/Songs database.
If you open this, then press "Rebuild database" or Build Database depending on your version. You should see a list of all the folders containing your music. (Don't Press any other buttons) just see what drive letters are assigned then close this window. Probably see C/MTU/KMA and another, if you don't see "F" drive listed then note what other drive is and set your volume letter to that as in previous instructions. If this doesn't solve your problem then you will probably need to rebuild your database from scratch. Tell us which version of Hoster you are using if this did not solve your problem.
