CD/DVD DRIVE problem

I had to re-install Hoster 4.32 after a mini crash deleted it and dropped me back to Hoster 4.20. I had the mini crash problem fixed. I have removable drives and when repaired last, someone forgot to put screw in to keep drive from moving. After re-installing Hoster 4.32, I went to import some new discs. Problem is, Hoster is not recognizing nor locating my drive. I think the problem is, when I had computer worked on, repairer changed my CD/DVD disc drive to letter Z. I have main drive C, back up D, USB..Toshiba Drive E, FreeAgent Drive F, and CD/DVD Drive Z. Anyone know how I can fix this so I can use my discs drive? I thank everyone in advance.

Re: CD/DVD DRIVE problem

When you open Tools/CD/DVDdrives, do you see your drive listed there ?

If you do press the retest button, check the default read drive at the bottom is your cd/dvd drive press save.

If the drive is not showing in the list, can you play from it in Media Player ?

Also if you click Start/Computer does it show it there ?

Re: CD/DVD DRIVE problem

In tools, the CD?DVD Drive is not in bold print, so I cannot even open or go to the test section you mention. When I go to start, my computer...yes, the drive is there

Re: CD/DVD DRIVE problem

Try this, Open control panel/ administrative tools/Computer Management in the window that opens you should see Disc Management click this, a window should populate the bottom right panel showing your drives. Select your DVD drive and right click it, a window should appear, select Change drive Letter & paths. The next window will show your DVD drive with an option to change, select this another window opens pick the radio button Assign the following drive letter and from the drop down list pick another say G then press OK. close all the windows then check it in my computer.
It may be best to restart your computer then see if the Tools/CD/DVD drives is still grayed out.
