not on database

while waiting for the HOA's approval ( 30-45 days ) to move into my new house , i decided to continue my show, and last Sat. after i got everything set-up i did a sound check, opened Hoster added a few songs on the playlist and had it on auto. just to make sure , all played fine, but when i started the show, i clicked on one of the songs and clicked on play, i got an error msg. " not on song database" so i clicked on another one same error..had to closed Hoster , and when i opened Hoster back up, i clicked on the same songs and it played..not that big of a deal, just wondering what would caused this error msg... but anyway Hoster played excellent all night, didnt have any problems..

Re: not on database

I think i had the same little guy's in my laptop friday night. I played one of my chartbuster monthly pop hits it was from may i think. Anyway, on the little video screen on my laptop everything was all scrambled up. On the singers screen, and the house plasma big screen it was perfect, and on the 5" LCD on my dj desk it was perfect also. huh????

The .kma files are files containing your ripped CD+G files.
Hoster writes a small file for Zips, mp3 and video files with a .kmh extension, this small file is just a header for Hoster to be able to store it's location and all the setting you choose for that file, Hoster uses the information in the header to load the file it is referring too. You must have both files in the same folder.

So yes if you have imported them then they are added to the database and searchable.

Re: not on database

I agree on the import but that coverts them to kma files. I was wondering about just leaving them as they are and searching what ever format they are in.

Re: not on database

The search won't work unless you import them. Zips, Video ,MP3, WMA, MP3G and WMAG Stay in their original folders Hoster doesn't convert them, It just adds a very small Header file into the same folder with the KMH extension not a KMA. Your original files are not moved or altered so that you can still access them easily in any other programs.

As Roy said they are left in the original format and the additional 256 byte KMH file is added to the folder where the original is. Essentially it is doing exactly what you want. The original file is still there and Hoster does use that file to play. The KMH is what tells Hoster the information required for it to be added to the database that you search with.

Re: not on database

same msg. came up again, i played last night till 4am,together with a band to a full house of a 150 people, and some are still waiting at the door to get in , while the band was setting up, i did a sound check, played a few songs everything played fine, when the band stopped playing their first set, i started ( just me as a solo performer, no other singers ) but when i clicked on my first song, i got the same error msg. as before, not in song database...not a big deal, i closed and opened Hoster and it went fine, just wondering why this error comes up in random, when it played w/o a problem on sound checked...but anyway everything went great, didnt have any problem, had BA, singers , search screen and itunes( minimize) opened and didnt have any single problem..

Re: not on database

Sounds like your computer is shutting down the link to the database. I would suspect it is set to put the hard drive to sleep when not in use for a period of time. This is normal specially for laptops to conserve battery power. Check your power settings and see what they are set to for the hard drive. I would shutdown Hoster when band starts and re-open it after, then you shouldn't see this.
