DirectX & Windows 7

I'm going through the checklist to make sure I have my laptop configured properly since my system went down 4 times last Saturday night. I've upgraded to 4.22 and am running a Dell Inspiron 1545 w/ 4Mb ram & 2 Gb processor. I have almost 40% disc space available. When I come to the part that says download DirectX v10, should I have to do that even though I'm at v11?

I'm running Direct x V11 on my windows 7 with no problems, I believe it was for anything before v10.

Was you running with BA enabled ? There are some other people who have had similar problems and we think now it may be having BA enabled.
Try your next session with it off. If you find you don't get the same problem then it might help narrow down this problem.

What I have noticed is that you and Kod from the other thread are both running Dell 1545 models, could there be a link here.

Check Dell Support, there are updates in it for the Bios, Audio, and a lot of other things. The Bios would be the one that to me might be causing the problem, though it could be any of the others. I would especially look at all from this year.

I'll do that too. I found a couple of items on the update checklist I didn't have in order so we'll see what happens. Thanx Dale!

Went throught the checklist line by line, made all the Dell upgrades (bios, etc.), ran a test with BA on and everything was fine. As soon as I turned off BA, it shut down.

BA is obviously not perfect. Not sure where on the list fixing this will be, but will discuss it with Admin next time I talk to him.
