Question Taking Forever To Get Songs To Play

I am trying to get Hoster Lite 4.22 to work for a friend on her computer. I did all the required changes, she paid to update to newest version of Hoster, and hoster is running but it takes almost 1 minute for each song to play. It loads them quickly but takes forever to play. Anyone have any suggestions to help fix this? Please help!!

THANK YOU!!!!

Re: Taking Forever To Get Songs To Play

Is this data in the signature your friends Spec?

If so I see you are only on Service Pack 2, there is a 3.5. when you load that you will probably find other custom updates.
Check your version of direct x I believe you need version 10 or later.

Also I would go to the Dell website and search for any updates there, I believe there are some for that Model if you haven't already done them.

To test a couple of other things temporarily while not on line, try disabling any spy ware program and see if the problem goes away.
Also if you have early versions of Roxio cd copying program uninstall that and see if that cures it.

Roy.

Re: Taking Forever To Get Songs To Play

How many songs are in the Songs Database? If you have Microsoft Access, you can open the Songs DB and view the last record ID number.

Be sure all the MTU strongly suggested and required changes are made to Vista, including the DirectX and Windows Media Player (WMP) upgrades. These can be found at:
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/v...de-hoster4.htm

Also, Roy's suggestions are valid. Be sure when you check for Windows Upgrades that you click CUSTOM, not EXPRESS. You'll be surprised what's needed that doesn't show up under EXPRESS.

I also noticed there is only 2.00GB of memory. This is absolute minimum for Vista with 4.00 GB being much better.
Another thing to look at is how big is the hard drive and how much space is free? Should be a minimum of 25% free space. but 50% would be ideal.

Thank you all. I'll pass the info on to her. I suggested that she increase her ram to 6. I think she's just going to get a new computer. Also tried to reinstall older hoster version and still had issues. I will let you know what changes she has made and if they worked. Thanks again!

None of the computers will take 6GB orf Ram and none of the operating systems will work with more than 4GB. Increasing memory is a good idea but the maximum is 4 and not 6GB.

Re: Taking Forever To Get Songs To Play

this might have something to do with the windows media player, do you have the latest version, if not see if you can download the new version, if not try this : i'm not sure if this is going to work, but this is the recommendation from Dell Support.. if you're not comfortable with these steps don't do it..

1. click start and type sound

2.click sound

3.in the sound window, click speakers/headphone and the properties

4.in the speakers/ headphone properties window, click the enhancement tab

5. click to check the disable all the enhancements checkbox

6. click apply then ok

7. in the speakers/headphones properties window click apply and
then ok..the sound window closes

Just an FYI, my HP has 6GB of RAM. Pretty common. You can get up to 8GB I believe.

BTW, Jodi's computer crashed yesterday so it's in the shop getting fixed. So we'll try all the changes when she gets it back.

Thanks again.

That is true only for 32 bit versions of Windows. This limitation is lifted in the 64 Bit versions of Windows. Even Vista Home Basic 64 Bit supports 8 GB with the 64 Bit versions of Business, Enterprise and Ultimate supporting up to 128 GB. Windows 7 Home Basic 64 supports 8GB, Home Premium 16GB and Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate support 192GB.

It is not uncommon for motherboard manufacturers to put memory limitations in the BIOS to prevent you from upgrading past a certain point. You should always check with the manufacturer to see what the limit is.

Re: Taking Forever To Get Songs To Play

Ok. I stand corrected. Guess I am living in the past . I don't work anymore so haven't kept up with all the latest.
