downloaded songs?

i've treid searching the forums and did not find anything regarding the conversion of downloaded songs to .kma files.

folks i'm not asking about the legality of doing this so please save that for another discussion. i'm trying to keep up with the times and right now i buy every disc and convert it to kma.

lately more and more people are asking why i can't download a song from one of the many karaoke download sites so they can sing it right then and there. i have been dragging my feet on this simply because i don't know if i can do that with hoster and deftinitely don't know how it would be done.

if it IS possible to do through hoster, please direct me to the are of the manual that explains this!

thanks,
and nice to see you're still around lonman. haven't been on the ks forum in a loooong time for various reasons.

click the import songs tab like you would if importing disks but instead of selecting import cd tracks you select import hard drive files.

This screen can be a litle complicated to use the first time so I would suggest reading up on it in the manual and have the manual open the first time you do it.

Ask those customers who ask you why if they are willing to pay your fines, court costs and to buy you new equipment after yours is siezed for using illegal downloaded songs? I bet they stop asking after that. Read the thread on the Virginia lawsuit currently being pushed by Sound Choice in the Singers and Hosts Wisdom section. It will open your eyes.
Any way Mindonstrike already explained how to import files from the hard drive. As he said read the manual section carefully on importing from the hard drive.

thanks, sam, for the information

dale, i appreciate the input, but as stated within the beginning of the thread i don't want to make the thread about legality. only wanted to know if it was possible and how to go about finding directions.

Seems to me wanting to download from a link during a show is all about "legality". And we sometimes wonder why there are lawsuits out there..privilous or not.

As I mentioned in a previous post I have been looking into 'legal' downloads. This would mean downloading a licensed track from SBI or now even Chartbuster after paying them for it. Putting aside the logistics of a KJ taking time during a show to buy a song for a customer, or have the customer buy a song and getting it imported into Hoster, the whole issue of how legal this is still unclear. The vendor FAQs and answers to email queries are at best obsure about using licensed downloads in a public setting.
