I can not find Hoster 3

I just installed Hoster 4 on my laptop, right from a factory reset that the computer shop did to it due to a driver problem. I downloaded the last Hoster version, now I can not find Hoster 3 in the MTU hoster folder. Any help??? I have a gig in about 3 hours.

Try C/Programe files/ Micro Technology/Hoster Folder
You should see both Hoster .exe there unless you told it to Save somewhere else.

other than that use the search feature in windows.

With 4.09 Hoster version 3.4 has been removed from the install as it has been deemed as not necessary any more. Additionally some of the functions in 3.4 no longer work with the 4.09 setup. 4.09d is stable and no major problems with it as have been present in some of the past versions. Version 3.4 being included was a temporary thing to help during those versions.

I'm glad that I left 3.4 on my laptop when another program (Not MTU) put a phantom drive on my computer and Hoster could not check it and would not open. I did have to use 3.4 that night until Dale (our book of useful knowledge) lead me in the right direction once again. I'm leaving 3.4 (which did have a few issues) on my lappy just for such emergencies. Personal note to Dale, You have saved my butt many time and I can not thank you enough for that.

Dale I found this statment in one thread:

UNCHANGED Upgrading to 4.09C Does Not Remove 3.40 - 3.40 can't open the Bucket.mdb, so the Import CD Tracks, Import HD Files, and Edit Songs screens won't work. However, playing does work and it may be a show saver. It would take a lot of work for us to pull this out during an Upgrade.

It was removed in 4.09D.

As Jim said it was removed with 4.09D. If you have it already in the folder and do an Upgrade then it will stay. If you do the Remove and reinstall it will be gone. Same with the initial install.

It looks like you've got 2 computers. if 3.4 is on one of them you can just copy it out of the folder mentioned above and move it to the same folder in the other computer. Not a bad idea to sock away a copy somewhere for future emergencies.

I am not so sure about that Sam. Version 3.4 was modified to run with the version 4 registration code. That tells me that it would be code specific and will give a code mismatch error message if you try that.

Well we learn something new every day . As Sam suggested I will just keep a copy in my backup folder just in case I want to try it. If dale is right, as he usually is then I will just have to go without.

Theoreticly the second computer it was copied from uses the same registration code so it shouldn't be a problem. Next time I fire up the computer I'll give it a go and see what happens.
