Red face Downloading MP3+Gs

I have been considering downloading some MP3+Gs from the internet, namely TriceraSoftdownloads.com. You pay for the songs and I have the following questions:

1. Are these legal?
2. Do you do a hard drive import into Hoster from wherever you saved it?
3. Must you save and carry the paid receipt for this song to prove it is legal (if the answer to #1 is yes)
4. Any advice pro or con on this?
5. Any Hoster glitches you may run into

I don't know the answer to your particular questions but, I at one time started downloading ordinary legal mp3 from the Internet, just music not karaoke. When I downloaded them they came with a license which is stored on your computer, some aloud you to make a limited amount of copies to disk but others only aloud one single copy, they were encrypted in some way. I found some would not play in hoster as fill in music as hoster did not recognize the encryption. The next problem was when you change your computer you have to renew these licenses which I had problems with. At that time they were charging about .75 English pence a track which wasn't too bad until I changed my computers mother board and found half of them would no longer play. So from now on I always buy the CD and I have no worries with the license and always have a hard copy.

1. The only ones that are "legal" and that is questionable is Proburn. As far as I know none of the producers have agreed to allow downloadable copies of their karaoke songs.
2. Yes
3.
4. Many of the companies offer "Custom" CDGs if you are wanting specific songs and not wanting to buy a bunch of duplicates to get them. Price varies.
5. Only thing people have problems with is getting the import format correct for their files.

i've been downloading music from itunes for years now ( 4,672 songs to date) at .99 cents ea. and they are protected (aac ) and you are allowed to have your " purchased " itunes on 5 computers, i have 8 computers now 4 laptops( 1 mini laptop ) and 4 workstation pc's the way around it is to burn the protected songs as mp3, my reason for these was some of my dj software wont play aac's..

Thanks for the response, I did look at previous posts but missed the one that Beavis sent the link for. I read all them and realized this has been a hot issue in the past. In my post I was looking for a LEGAL means of downloading........I also order custom discs but the download is an alternative with you want one particular song for a show tomorrow night and can't wait 1-2 weeks to receive it.

1 Some are not, but I believe Tric... is.
2 Yes
3 When and if the government ever requires you to keep your disks on hand when using a computer then yes, otherwise just keep the reciept with your disks wherever they are.
4 No cons I can think of except that mp3 generally gives less quality than an equivalent sized wma, but not enough to worry about IMHO.
5 None at all.

Chartbuster claims they will be offering downloads soon (it's been soon for about the last 4 months). They've got about 10 different Christmas songs (public domain) you can download now for free as mp3g zips or as a wmv video.

Hey Steve,
I downlaoded some songs from Tricerasoft last year. Like you said it was nice being able to get a new song and not have to wait. Aside from the legal/not legal issue, they have not added any songs from Panorama/Karaoke Monthly since May of 2008 (7 months now). I stopped buying tracks from them for this reason. Seems kind of odd plus the Panorama track are the only ones I wanted.

I don't want to fan the fire here, just my two cents worth.

Thanks Jim, I read several of your post on this same subject a year or so ago and I pretty much agree with your assessment.

They are in a major lawsuit for creating songs without proper licensing and decided it would be in their best interest to just shuit the doors. I had the case bookmarked & the forum where the owner used to post on in my computer but lost all my favorites in a crash. Will try to find the link for you.

Here is the link to the case. I also found out they did lose & were forced into bankruptcy.

Thanks Lonnie,
I find it interesting that the online distribution (downloading) of the tracks Panaorama created was not mentioned once in this case.

I thought about this over the weekend. Since Panorama's catalog is no longer available for sale on disc, I wonder if Tricerasoft will stop selling Panorama's tracks online?

Just A Thought
